P6A Weekly Update 7th January 2022

Happy New Year.

This term we will be investigating the life and work of Robert Burns but also the country we live in Scotland – finding features from mythology to geography.

We will be continuing to develop our knowledge of Fractions, Decimals and Percentages this term. We all need to keep practising our times tables as this will be a great help when learning new things in math.

We are able to have PE indoors. Pupils can bring a change of shoes in their bags for this as doing PE in boots and outdoor winter shoes is not comfortable.

Have a great weekend (in the snow)

P2B Week Beginning 20th December 2021

We have had a super last week in school doing lots of Christmas crafts.

We enjoyed watching our nativity and celebrating at our Christmas party!

Highlights from the red table:

Jayden – I liked doing the bear drawing following the instructions on the board to draw each bit.

Matthias – I liked making the party hat by drawing on the band and colouring in the Christmas tree on the front.

Kacper – I like doing the iPads to take a picture and draw me an elf.

Have a fantastic Christmas and I will see you all in the New Year,

Miss Lawrence 🙂

P6A Weekly Update 22nd December 2021

Only three days but WOW we filled them with fun (and some learning 🙂 )

On Monday morning we had great fun creating math board games. First we had to reflect on our learning in math since we started in Primary 6. Next we chose a sensible partner or partners to design and create our game with. The hardest part was writing out questions for other people to answer.

We also learned some Spanish Christmas Phrases in the afternoon before going to the hall with Mrs McKissack for some dancing and games. Mrs Miller shared out some lovely party food when we came back and we had more dancing.

On Tuesday morning we finished off our maths games and had good fun playing with them. We had our final music lesson (this year) with Mrs Morrison. In the afternoon we had a great Christmas Quiz then we played prodigy (practising maths skills whilst having fun)

At last Wednesday morning we spent tidying our trays and creating artwork while listening to Christmassy tunes. We also took part in the Christmas Assembly on Teams. We didn’t know just what fantastic dancers Mrs McKissack, Mrs Mclaughlin and Mrs Dickie are – AMAZING!

This afternoon we settled down to watch a Christmas movie with popcorn and juice.

It’s been a busy year so far and we are all looking forward to a relaxing Christmas Break (that might just be Mrs Miller 🙂 )

Merry Christmas and a Happy and Healthy New Year. See you all in January.

P3A WB 13.12.21

Dear readers,

This week we have been very busy! As always!😃

Some of this week’s highlights were:

Working on our Christmas spelling words ending the week with our weekly spelling assessment.

We have read our books which are getting trickier and trickier and answered to questions for Reading comprehension. This week our Reading comprehension was about the story of The First Christmas.

After months of preparation, we congratulate the boys and girls for celebrating their Reconciliation! We are all very proud of them!👏👏👏

The whole class have been practising the Prayers Our Father, Hail Mary and also the Act of Sorrow.

We have learned Tessellation and how to arrange shapes in a way for them to tessellate.

In numeracy, we are getting really good at our subtraction sums and have also learned how to borrow from the tens neighbour.

We have also been doing some other things but unfortunately can’t tell you about them yet, since they are supposed to be secrets, so you’ll just need to wait and see…😁

As usual, once again we ended the week with our spelling assessment.

You will see some pictures of our Amazing Nativity Story Windows and also of our most recent display on Scotland and St. Andrew.

We hope you enjoy them!

Love from Mrs Valente and P3A

P2A Week Beginning 13th December

Hello P2A families!

Here are the learning highlights of the week from the Blue Table:

John said he enjoyed singing the songs from the Nativity.  Even though our filming took place last Friday, the children still enjoy singing the songs.  We hope to share the link with you next week of this fantastic production.

Olly liked designing a Christmas jumper with Mrs Morrison.

Ella loved our learning about bar charts.  We gathered information about what food we enjoy the most for our Christmas dinner.  The options were of course, turkey, roast potatoes, carrots, brussel sprouts or gravy.  Can you guess what was the most and least popular?  Ask your child if they can remember (turkey and brussel sprouts).  Afterwards, Ella enjoyed the worksheet where she had to count how many of each Christmas themed item she could see and represent that information in a bar chart.

Paige loved watching the Christmas movie, ‘Nativity’ after we had our Christmas lunch which Paige described as “delicious!”  I agree with you Paige.  A big thank you to the marvellous kitchen staff for all their hard work!

My highlight was when we wrote our letters to Santa.  The children were very polite and made sure they did not start them with, “Dear Santa, I want……” but we had enquiries into Mrs Claus’ health, promises of having been good all year and letting Santa know we will be leaving milk and cookies for him and the reindeers!  Look out for pictures of your child in their Nativity costume over the weekend as well as a picture of them posting their Santa letter (if they were present the day we wrote it) into the magical post box that zoomed their letters straight to the North Pole as soon as the children left at home time!

P6A Blog 17th December 2021

Third week of advent we learned about different Christmas traditions around the world and the Nativity. Most of us completed out powerpoint about our faith adding them to our evidence folder for Pope Francis Faith Award.

In maths we continued to learn about fractions as well as having a maths challenge in Prodigy. In Literacy we wrote imaginative Christmas themed writing. We also created beautiful Christmas poetry. We also completed our comics about the Climate Change activist we researched. Ask us to show you on pixton comics.

We had school Christmas lunch on Wednesday then watched Arthur Christmas and created Christmas Crafts. Today was PJ day. We certainly seem to be very Christmassy. 🙂 Next week we are looking forward to our Christmas Party and making our own board games.

Have a fabulous weekend.

P1B Weekly Highlights 17th December

This week we have looked at the sounds l and r.  We are able to read, write and find words that begin with the sounds.  We are also working hard at learning our common words.

We all really enjoyed our Christmas Dinner it was so special sharing Christmas dinner with our friends in school.

This week as part of our Toys topic we looked at toys that can be pushed, or pulled or twisted.  We were able to correctly identify the different forces used on a selection of toys.  We looked in the toy catalogue and cut out and sorted toys into those that can be pushed or pulled or use both forces.

We have continued to work on our Advent Book and have been very busy making crafts and decorations.

Today we dressed up in our pyjamas and helped to raise money for The Larder charity.  We met ups with our buddies socially distanced and exchanged Christmas Cards.  It was lovely to see them before the Christmas holidays.  We brought home all the wonderful decorations and Christmas crafts we made.  We hope you like them.  Our Christmas Nativity video is now ready to view we worked very hard on it and we hope you enjoy watching it.

We are very excited about our Christmas Party next week.  Have a wonderful weekend everyone and stay safe.
