P2A Week Beginning 31st January 2022

Hello P2A families!

Here are the learning highlights of the week from the Blue Table:

Ollie enjoyed celebrating Chinese New Year!  His favourite activity was trying to lift “noodles” with chopsticks.  I hope you all enjoyed the pictures on Seesaw.

Ella said her favourite learning experience this week was Time.  We revised ‘o’clock’ in both analogue and digital clocks and next week will move onto half past.

John liked our learning on the history of Livingston.  We heard how a key figure in our local history ‘Sir Patrick Murray’ is the reason why we have so many beautiful trees and plants in Livingston.  Next week we learn about another key figure in our local history, James Young and his role in the mining industry of Livingston.

Paige shared how she liked learning the joined up letters ‘an’ during handwriting with Mrs Morrison.

My highlight was seeing how interested the children were learning about the history of Livingston.  Zosia shared on Seesaw ‘de Leving’s Peel’ painted on canvas and David K shared his Peel having built it on Minecraft!  Amazing!  I also LOVED the baby pictures that were sent in for our ‘Guess the Baby’ game.  So many children looked exactly as they do now only smaller and every single one of them were so beautiful!  If you have yet to send in your picture then it is not too late.  I know your child is excited to share it with the class.

Primary 3A – WB 31.01.22

Dear Readers,

We hope you are all very well.

This week we have started learning about Information Reports and will continue working on them during the next few weeks. We have learned to identify the 4 different parts of an Information Report and have been thinking about what we would write for each of those parts. When answering to questions to check our Reading comprehension, we have been trying our best to, whenever asked, using full sentences, something that we still find a bit hard.

We continue working hard in our new weekly spelling words, always hoping to get good scores on Fridays!😃

We have been learning different strategies to help us with multiplication and are becoming really good at the 2, 5, and 10 timestables. In order to check how well we know our tables, and also to have a bit of fun, we enjoy playing interactive tables games.

For topic, we have located the West Lothian council in Scotland and discovered the magic and beauty of Linlithgow Palace, one of the many attractions of the authority.

In PE we are learning how to play tennis and have been enjoying it very much.

Finally, in Music, we listened to a beautiful concert of Scottish traditional music.

We hope you have enjoyed reading about some of the highlights of our week and wish you an amazing and safe weekend!😊

Aaron – I have enjoyed listening times.

Reesa – I liked blending sounds and making words.

We celebrated Chinese New Year making dragons and tiger masks. Mrs Russell made us some noodles to try.

P2B Highlights Week Beginning 31st January 2022

P2B have had another super week. We have been revising o’clock in Maths and focusing on ‘ee’ sound with different spellings for literacy. We had lots of fun learning about Chinese New Year and how it is the year of the tiger. We then made cute 3D tigers and tried prawn crackers (they were yummy). For God’s Loving Plan, we were focusing on things that grow and we played a guess the baby game – the pictures were so beautiful!

Highlights from the red table:

Jayden – I liked when we done the magic e words, playing the game with Georgia. We didn’t get to the end because we kept landing on ‘go back’. It was funny.

Amelia – I liked the Chinese New Year tiger. I showed my Grandma and my half brother in Poland when I was on FaceTime.

Aaeryn-Leigh -I liked playing the baby game because it was kind of funny when we had to guess the names and some of us were wrong and some of us were right. My team won!

Kacper – I liked the baby game because it was super fun. All of them guessed my picture right.

Matthias – I liked the baby game because no one knew my picture.

Michael – I liked PE doing tunnel tig and throwing the ball to my partner.

Well done to Ismaeel for winning the Hot Chocolate Award.

Have a lovely weekend,
