Dear parents and loved ones,
It has been a very quick week yet we have packed lots in!
Maths- This week we were focusing on using a written strategy to help us with division and we have picked this up really quickly, which is excellent! We were also exploring different time zones around the world and calculated the time difference from British Summer Time.
Literacy- On Thursday, P5 were really sad because Miss Ventisei removed all of the toys from the classroom and we had to write an exposition which persuaded her to give us them back! We included lots of powerful and emotive language to persuade her, alongside complex conjunctions and time sequence words. Miss Ventisei was very impressed and as a reward P5 had some free time on Friday for all of their hard efforts! Well done P5A! We also enjoyed creating our very own podcast during Reciprocal Reading this week. We were working in our collaborative groups to predict and summarise our reading book and ask some tricky questions about the text. Some people also clarified some unknown words and of course, our Big Bosses very much enjoyed organising the group! Our podcasts sound fantastic and are a great record of our super work within our collaborative learning groups.
Outdoor learning and Topic- Last week a large group of the class were very upset about the amount of litter in the playground and wanted to do something about it. So, on Wednesday, we all headed out to do a class litterpick! We worked really hard all afternoon and we are loving our clean playground! Miss Ventisei was also very proud because a large group of our class proved to be fantastic responsible citizens and effective contributors as they set up their very own ‘litter mitty’! The group will now dedicate their breaktimes to cleaning up the playground and trying to encourage others to do the same. Very well done everyone!
On Thursday we were learning about microhabitats during outdoor learning. We went on a hunt for some in our woodland area and even built our own! We had lots of fun in the woodland area and even spotted some interesting minibeasts!
Languages- This week we have been learning to tell the time in Spanish (and English!). We learnt a really catchy new song to help us remember and we have been practicing this lots!
R.E.- Since it is now May, we know that it is the month of Mary. We have been saying Hail Marys everyday at school and we have also been learning a new prayer for P5 – ‘The Angelicus’.
Thank you for another excellent week P5, have a lovely long weekend and see you all on Tuesday!
