We’ve had a lovely last week in P4.

In maths, we’ve been looking at time.  We’ve made analogue clocks and have spent lots of time understanding how to read and show the time.  We made flaps on them so we can peel them back to see the number of minutes and also how to see we would say this in words too. We’ve found using the clocks very helpful.

We continued our work on procedures in English and literacy.  We’ve looked at some more different example texts as part of our reading comprehension and we’ve continued to really impress Mrs Brown with our nouns, adjectives, verbs and adverbs understanding.

We have been looking at greetings in Spanish and our pronunciation is coming along well!  We have looked at a range of household inventions in Topic and we completed some research on some of their inventors.

Some highlights from this week:

Paige, Jonah and Stefi: I’ve liked playing Cross the Golden River in games.  We were all sweaty!

Shelby and Alexa: I liked doing maths (learning the time).

Khael: I liked all my learning.  Maths was my favourite.

Matteo:  I really liked doing the inventions posters.

Ishani S: I liked making the clocks.

Layla: I liked going to the hall on Friday because our house won the House Point competition.  We watched Alice in Wonderland.  It was great!

Zac, Ishani M and Jude: I liked Big Maths.  Jude is happy because he is now onto the next level.

Well done to Stefi for being our Hot Chocolate winner this week.  Stefi has been really ready, respectful and safe and has shown some great independent learning.

Have a wonderful break everybody and I really look forward to seeing you when you get back.  If you can, try to practise your time skills at home.  When we return, we will be converting the time from analogue to digital.

It’s been another fantastic week in P2A.  The children have been super busy and lots of learning has taken place!

In literacy we have been focusing on the ‘ch’ and ‘tch’ sounds and the children completed lots of fun tasks to practise reading and writing these sounds in different words.  In writing, the children used their imagination to write about what they will do when they are a grandparent.  They come up with some very interesting ideas, from learning to ice skate to spending their days drinking coffee and eating cake.

In Maths, we continued to practise counting in 2’s, 5’s and 10’s in preparation for learning the times tables.  We also learned about capacity, in particular how we measure liquids using litres and half litres.

We learned in topic about an animated TV programme from the 70’s called Morph.  We then used the ipads and playdough to create our very own Morph animations.

Here are a few weekly highlights from the children:

Jiade – I loved making a Morph animation, it was great fun!

Diana – I liked making myself as a granny because it was so fun!

Caiden – I liked writing about what I will do when I am a Grandpa.

Riley – I liked watching the movie in the hall because my house won the most house points.

Aadya – I loved learning about capacity and playing in the water, filling the tubs and seeing how many of one could fit into another.

Zion – I enjoyed free writing Friday.  I wrote about going on holiday.

Big congratulations to our Hot Chocolate Friday winner, Zion!  He very much deserves the recognition for always working hard and being kind and friendly to others.  What a star!

Dear Parents ,

This week P7A have been full of work like going up to the woods doing fun maths writing poems and much more.

On Monday we read Millions chapter 14-16, then we did maths. In maths we did rounding. The hot group were doing decimal points and the spicy and mild were rounding with no decimal points. In the afternoon we were doing some poems by Benjamin Zephania. After that we did Seven petitions of the Our Father.

On Tuesday we did a bit of literacy. then we did our daily km. during maths we continued our rounding. In the afternoon we did our poems and we practised reading in front of our classmates and we did a bit of French.

On Wednesday we wrote information reports, this week Lily was our star writer. After that we did some music. In music we practised some notes and then we sang songs. After that we went to the woodlands and we played conkers then we roasted marshmallows in the fire pit.

On Thursday’s literacy we did Millions comprehension on chapter 19. In the afternoon we watched a movie called Millions, seeing which bits were the same and different to the book.

On Friday we did P.E. The winners of the house prize was St Filan. They had a movie on the big screen in the hall! We finished off our ‘Frank Miller’ drama and then had Fun Friday.

Alessio was this week’s Hot Chocolate at home winner.

Jack said, ” I enjoyed meeting our new teacher Miss Davis, she’s nice.”

“I enjoyed roasting Marshmallows,” said Junaid.

“I enjoyed Millions the movie more than the book,” said Liam.

Dear families,

We have all had a great last week of term. We have managed to get a lot of done and have continued to be busy!

The pupil highlights of the week are:

• Gracie and Naman – finishing Narrative stories on the Netbooks.
• Niamh and Declan – researching and creating the Ancient Rome information posters.
• Praise – completing the morning design challenges.

Well done to Marcus who received this weeks hot chocolate for continuing to work hard and always try his best.

Olly: I enjoyed doing our research on the 70s for our powerpoints.

Rupert: It was fun watching the drama our class have been rehearsing Fam in 60.

Whole class : the whole class are delighted to have Mohid back in the classroom too.

Hot Chocolate Winner : Congratulations to Advay  for winning hot chocolate this week. He has worked so hard on his  first draft of his 70s information report for HW and is always a kind friend and considerate member of the class. Well done!

We have had a great week in Primary 3B!

As part of our work on time, children enjoyed learning about the days of the week, the months of the year and the seasons. We have also started looking at the days of the week in Spanish!

Furthermore in Spanish, we revised our numbers to 30 by playing Bingo! We also revisited our colours by completing a word search.

We continue our topic on The Vikings; and this week enjoyed learning about Viking Long Ships! Children watched an information video and had to label a diagram of a ship.

This week our Hot Chocolate Award winner is Amelia! We are so proud of Amelia who has been working so hard on her confidence!

We also congratulate our Star Table this week; Table Cinco (5)!

Hello P2B families!

Here are the learning highlights of the week from the Yellow Table:

Ciara said the best part of her week was learning songs and rhymes with Mrs Morrison.  “10 Little Monkeys Jumping on the Bed” was her favourite one!

Amy liked handwriting this week.  We teaching handwriting at this time of the year in families of how they are formed.  This week we revised the formation of ‘l, i and j’ that all begin with a downward movement.  Amy, your handwriting was beautiful!  You remembered that ‘j’ does not rest on the line but hangs down like a monkey’s tail from a branch!

Georgia-Rose loved our ‘Maths Week Scotland’ activity where we worked with a  partner to see how many triangles we could see inside a larger triangle and how many squares we could see inside a larger square.  When we went over the answers on the smartboard, the children were amazed at how many there was to find!

Eli also said his learning highlight was a ‘Maths Week Scotland’ activity.  This one however was when we had a challenge to work with a partner to build as tall a tower as possible with lego without it toppling over and also to build as tall a tower as possible with marshmallows without it toppling over!  We learned from this that buildings need to be be created with sturdy shapes that fit together and do not change shape and need a strong foundation.  Well done Primary 2B, super teamwork!

Mrs Devlin’s highlight was our discussion on how we use maths in everyday life from the moment we wake up (Time), to when we brush our teeth (1^st we put the toothpaste on, 2^nd we …..) to when we go to bed! We also discussed the maths that different peoples’ jobs involve.  We discovered that doctors and nurses use A LOT of maths!  We had fantastic insightful comments about needing to know the correct amount of medicine to give patients and Blair talked about needing to be able to read the numbers on a blood pressure machine!

Just a little reminder that reading books remain inside the waterproof homework packs in your child’s school bag each day and that they will be collected up on a Friday.  Thank you for your continued support.  I hope you and your child enjoyed their first reading book home together in P2.
