Primary 7 Wednesday 28th April AM

Good morning P7, it’s Wednesday already!

Today’s Literacy Work:

We are going to be looking at creating a piece of persuasive writing. Before you start your main task have a look through the clip below to give yourself a quick refresh about what persuasive writing is.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hD9arWXIddM

We all know how important it is to get a good night’s sleep, however sometimes we do not sleep as much as we should. Imagine a new law was being considered where anyone under the age of 13 had to be in bed by no later than 8 o’clock every night – this is what you are going to write about. It is up to you to create a persuasive text, imagining that you are writing this as a letter to the Scottish Government. It is entirely up to you which side you take – are you persuading them to go ahead with this as you think sleep is essential or are you against it as you believe the adults at home should choose when you go to bed.

Below are a few links to articles about the importance of sleep, you may want to read these and take a few notes before deciding which side of the fence you are on.

https://kidshealth.org/en/kids/not-tired.html#catguys – Facts for kids about why sleep is important

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d12jK4Cl0SY – 7 mins video positives of no screen time before bed

https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x6rx8ko  –  30 mins Panorama episode about under 14s not getting enough

The PowerPoint below will give you an idea of what kind of language to use in a persuasive text and the Super Sentence Starters will give you an idea of how to start your idea off. There is also a persuasive writing frame that will give you an idea of how to lay out each section of you letter.

P4B – 28.04.20 AFTERNOON POST

Dear boys and girls,

I hope you have learned a lot from your morning tasks!

In the afternoon, we are going to work on RE and Drama.

For RE, our learning will be on the 10 Commandments.

You will start by watching a video on the 10 Commandments:

After watching this video , create a poster with the 3 Commandments you have chosen as the most important ones.

Instructions:

1 – Write those 3 Commandments down neatly.

2-Illustrate the Commandments according to what they say.

3- Make your poster colourful and appealing in a way that it will catch people’s attention.

4- Answer to questions from your family about the Commandments you have chosen.

5- Post your poster on your blog and let me know when you have done it!

Don’t forget to follow instructions and to read everything carefully before you start watching!

For Drama, your challenge today is to improvise. Improvising means being able to create and perform (music, drama, or verse) spontaneously or without preparation.

Today, you will have 2 sets of improvisation cards and you will need to be able to continue what is being said in each of the cards! I hope it’s going to be lots of fun!

You will find the cards here:

IMPROVISING CARDS 1 28.04

IMPROVISING CARDS 2 28.04

Enjoy and have fun!
