Primary 6 Morning Tasks 30-04-20

Good morning everyone !  I hope you are ready for another day of learning ! We are going to do some literacy and numeracy this morning.

Numeracy The number of the day is 456 891 !

We are going to build on our knowledge of using the grid method for multiplication and learn  to multiply by 2 digit numbers. The method is exactly the same and  the PowerPoint  gives you lots of examples and help. You can choose to complete a mild, spicy or hot worksheet. I have attached an extra mild worksheet for anyone who does not feel ready to multiply by two numbers just yet. However if you feel like challenging yourself today then try the ” hot” worksheet which requires you to multiply a four digit number by a 2 digit number. Have fun and remember to present all your work neatly and upload it to your personal learning profile when completed.

Read the passage carefully and  if you have been able to print out the sheets then you can underline key words. Next choose a mild , spicy or hot worksheet. Remember to look for the correct information in the text and answer in full sentences.

Extension task – 1

Create your own questions based on the passage and ask a family member to answer them !

Extension task 2

Write a summary of the passage. Remember that a summary is a brief account, covering the main points  in the text using your own words.

P5B Wellbeing Wednesday PM

Good Afternoon.

Introducing our new Wellbeing Wednesday characters…

… Mental Health Heroes. We will need a new snappy name as they aren’t mindful monsters anymore. Let me know in the TEAMS chat.

Week 1 is Professor Pinwheel and he believes in the power of deep breathing and focusing your mind when you feel overwhelmed. There is the journal task, the mindful colouring and a task card. But this term also has character cards. They will use a lot of ink to print, so I suggest you look at them and maybe create your own or only print the page with the characters and text rather than the back page.

Our second wednesday task is our John Muir Award.

Here is a task chart. Please choose ONLY one task this week. Please remember to upload your work to the PLB and put John Muir as the title.

Primary 7 Afternoon Tasks 29.4

Good Afternoon Primary 7,

Thank you for continuing to work hard. We hope you enjoyed the chance to create some persuasive writing and look forward to reading which side of the fence you are on regarding the ‘new sleep law’.

Here are your answers for the patterns/sequence work in numeracy this morning.

Patterns Hot Wednesday Answers

Patterns Mild Wednesday Answers

Patterns Spicy Wednesday Answers

For IDL today we are continuing with our Location, Location, Location topic. We will be looking over the coming weeks at the different lad features of the two countries, and today we are starting with mountains. Your challenge is to find the highest mountain in Scotland and in Canada – you have to find out all you can about them.

Where are they? Can you find them on a map?

How high are they?

What the height is above sea level?

Is it possible to climb? How long would it take to climb?

The height difference between the 2

Can you sketch them both out?

The links below should give you a starting point for finding out some of this information.

https://kids.kiddle.co/Geography_of_Scotland

https://kids.kiddle.co/Category:Mountains_of_Canada

You can complete your mountain comparison on a word document or in your home learning jotter

There is also a music task this afternoon. The following link will take you to some wonderful music by the BBC orchestra

https://www.bbc.co.uk/teach/live-lessons/ten-pieces-party-live-lesson/znn82sg

Your challenge is to listen out for the rhythm, this is the beat of the music. Can you create your own beat following the music by tapping your feet or clapping your hands.

Primary 6 Afternoon Post 29-04-20

Hope you have had a good morning working hard. We are going to do some topic and drama this afternoon.

Topic.

We would like you to create a Jacobite timeline but you need to rearrange the events in the correct order.  Print out the sheet, if possible and stick them in the correct order in your learning journal. Alternatively, you could  create a timeline using PowerPoint  and include images to make it more interesting.

Drama

This week we are going to learn to to mime different actions without words! Use the drama cards attached below to act out different situations. Perhaps you could persuade a family member to join in and guess the scenario you have chosen! Remember you can’t say anything and this is a quiet activity ! Have lots of fun!
