Primary 7 Friday 1st May

Good Morning P7! Can you believe we are now in May?  The weather hasn’t been great as of late but looking at the week ahead it’s to improve again after the weekend so hopefully you’ll manage to still get out for your daily exercise and much needed fresh air.

Thank you for sharing your work with us on our Personal Learning Blogs – it’s great to see how hard you are all trying and making the best of a strange situation.  Keep it up as the move to High School is now really close!!!

Today’s RE Work:

May is a Month of Mary – a time where we pray to Mary, asking for her intercession.  For special intentions in the morning we’d say the Hail Mary or another prayer dedicated to Mary.  The Hail Holy Queen is one of these prayers. Copy this prayer into your Learning Journal – use a pen and your best joined up handwriting.

If you have a set of Rosary beads – look them out for this next task.  The Rosary is a set of prayers where we pray to God with Mary. This sheet has some blanks to fill in, bits to colour and prayers to say.

Rosary

Finish by listening to Bring Flowers of The Rarest – a lovely hymn dedicated to Mary.

Now – do something nice for your mum.

Today’s HWB Work:

We continue with our RRS work and UN Rights of a Child. Can you guess which article it is this week.

There is a PowerPoint which has some information and video links to watch before a range of activities for you to complete.  Choose the tasks you want to complete but the remember to share your work on you PLB so we can share them with Mrs Miller. I have also attached just the activities in a pdf file if that is easier to access.

HWB Article of The Week

HWB Activities

Have a great weekend Primary 7, remember it is a long weekend so there won’t be work posted again until Wednesday so take the time off to spend on yourself.  Re-read your favourite book, learn a new song, or dance routine.  Do things you enjoy and that bring you happiness – look after your emotional and mental health, they are so important.

Primary 6B Morning Tasks 1-5-20

Good morning everyone!  I really enjoyed looking at the columns you designed as part of your STEM project. It was amazing to see how many books they could support, although I believe the record was thirty- one books in P6A !  A reminder that there will be a video chat at 10.00am on Teams so that we can catch up and check that everyone is still keeping safe and healthy. Today we are going to do some RME and Health and Wellbeing activities.

Health and Wellbeing

It is really important to eat a healthy balanced diet but do we manage to eat five portions of fruit and vegetables every day? Sometimes it can be difficult! Do we really know what a portion size looks like? Look at the PowerPoint carefully and copy the food diary table into your jotters. Try to add at least five portions of fruit and vegetables to the menu. Now try to answer the questions on the Five A Day worksheet you will find all the answers in the PowerPoint.

RME

We are going to be learning about the  three parts of the Trinity. God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. It can be very confusing and even some adults find it difficult to understand !

Task 1

Read the PowerPoint carefully and do your best to understand the slides. Write a short paragraph describing to a friend what the Holy Trinity means.

Task 2

Design a new symbol helping children remember what the Holy Trinity means. There are some examples and ideas on slide three which might give you inspiration!

Have a great weekend and keep safe !

Primary 6 afternoon post 30-04-20

Good afternoon P6,

I hope you have all had a productive morning.

This afternoon our tasks are for STEM and music activities.  I really enjoyed seeing some videos of the music compositions you created last week using ‘found’ sounds and also the videos of rocket launches – liked like you were having so much fun with your creations.  It would be great if a few more of you could upload videos or photographs of your activities.

STEM: your challenge is to make paper columns that support weight.  This youtube link shows how to create a paper cylinder column and then test it using books – send us your estimates and actual results.

The extension activity is to try out different shapes of paper columns and see which is the best at bearing the most weight.  This clip shows you how to create different shaped paper columns:

Here’s a music food rhythm task for you:

You may need this to help but hopefully lots of you remember your notation values from our speed challenge!

Have fun!

At a time of year when the weather is extremely unpredictable. For example, warm enough here to have a water fight and Canada is still getting snow! Although it is still very chilly most days. A popular scottish phrase is ‘ Nae shed a clout, til May is oot!’

Have a look through this weather PP and choose a task to complete
