Primary 6 Afternoon Post 6-5-20

This afternoon we are going to do a STEM project and some Drama so I hope you are all feeling creative.

Drama – We are going to learn about improvisation. When you go to a pantomime or the theatre, many actors and actresses improvise! They may forget their lines and carry on acting but they actually are thinking on their feet and making their own lines up ! Try this out with a family member. Use the drama cards and continue a short improvised piece from a one line start. Perhaps you could upload your recordings to you PLP.

STEM Activity- Our STEM project involves designing and creating a paper bridge that is strong enough to hold several coins. Watch the You Tube clip carefully and gather together the resources you will need for the project. Try folding the paper different ways and experiment by making your bridge out of different materials. How does the shape affect your bridge? How does the length of the bridge affect its ability to hold the weight. Test your final design and see how many coins it can hold then take a clear picture and upload it to your PLP.  I wonder what the record will be ?

Have fun!

Primary 7 Wednesday 6th May PM

Good Afternoon Primary 7,

We hope you enjoyed the chance to create some persuasive writing and wonder if you show your parents your writing if it will work though you need to remember that things are tough for people at the moment – maybe you need to take a pocket money cut!

Here are your answers for the patterns/sequence work in maths this morning.

Today’s IDL Work:

We are continuing with our Location, Location, Location topic. We will be looking over the coming weeks at the different lad features of the two countries, and today we are finding out about rivers. Your challenge is to find the longest river in Scotland and in Canada – you have to find out all you can about them.

Where are they? Can you find them on a map?

How long are they?

Where is the river source and mouth?

What sort of fish and wildlife live in it?

The difference in length between the 2

What different things are they used for? (fishing, watersports, tourism etc.)

The links below should give you a starting point for finding out some of this information.

https://kids.kiddle.co/Geography_of_Scotland

https://kids.kiddle.co/Category:Rivers_of_Canada

You can complete your mountain comparison on a word document or in your home learning jotter

Today’s Music Work:

Bagpipes are well known as a Scottish instrument but other countries also use them and even have different versions of them.  Pipe bands are a big thing – not just here in Scotland but also in Canada.

Your task today is to find out some information about Bagpipes and Pipe Bands and create a PowerPoint, or some other form of presentation, to share your learning.

Here is a place to start:

Remember to share your learning on your Blogs.

P4B PM Wednesday 6th May

Good afternoon P4.

Well done for the great work this morning. Remember if you would like to share your work with me and receive feedback, please upload onto your Personal Learning Blog.

This afternoon’s tasks are:

H&WB

Our tongue plays a major role in how we taste things. Today, we are going to look at the tongue and how it works. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0hwOL91cjwM

  1. Sort these foods into the different categories, you can draw or write each food under the appropriate heading.
The Sense of Taste and the Tongue
  2. Choose one food from each list that you have within your house and do a taste test. (If you do not have something, please do not worry)

The senses of smell and taste are directly related because they both use the same types of receptors. If one’s sense of smell is not functional, then the sense of taste will also not function because of the relationship of the receptors.

  1. Split a sheet of paper in two. On one side draw and label 5 foods you love the smell of. On the other side draw and label 5 foods you really dislike the smell of.

Music

Go on a walk, sit in your garden or sit beside a window and have a sound hunt. Listen to all the different sounds you can hear. Draw 10 different sounds.
