P4B AM Wednesday 20th May

Good Morning P4! I hope you are all well. It is to be a beautiful day outside so make sure you enjoy it and get plenty of fresh air.

This morning’s tasks are:

Challenge

Let’s start this lovely Wednesday morning with a ‘Number of the Day’. Complete in your jotter or on paper.  https://mathsstarters.net/numoftheday/

Literacy

Today, we are going to be using a ‘Thesaurus’. https://www.thesaurus.com/  Remember a Thesaurus is used to find other words that mean the same thing or something similar. Another name for this is a Synonym.

  1. Use a Thesaurus to complete a word scavenger hunt. Thesaurus Scavenger Hunt
  2. Think of 5 to 10 words that describe food items that you do like and ones that you do not. Can you think of lots of synonyms for these?

Maths

Today we are going to continue thinking about working out change.

-Set up a shop/cafe in your house, label the products with different prices up to £2 and/or make a price list. You have £5 to spend. Buy two items and work out how much change you will have left.

-Willy Wonka’s Chocolate shop is back open for business, for deliveries only. Work out how much change each of the customers are due back. Will wonka Hot willy wonka Mild

Why not practice counting of money

-If you have a piggy bank full of coins, why not play a game. Grab a handful of coins, count how much money you have in your hand.

If you work in the ‘Telescope’ or the ‘Pencil’ group (Mrs Green) here is your daily Numeracy and Literacy Grid. Wednesday Morning Tasks

P5B Tuesday 19th PM

Good Afternoon

When looking at tasks, please don’t rush through them. Try to do your best, with handwriting, presentation, spelling and effort. If you can’t finish something, if you don’t have time, then leave it and come back to it later. These are all about improving and practicing skills, not finishing as quickly as possible.

Remember SUMDOG has a West Lothian competition this week. Its ends on Thursday and we need more people to play to enter.

Rights of the child activities this afternoon.

Look through the Powerpoint. There are short activities in the powerpoint and some tasks at the end. You don’t have to do all the tasks.

P6 Afternoon Post 19-05-20

Hello everyone, I hope you’ve had a lovely morning.

This afternoon we are going to move forward with our topic and look at patterns in art.

Firstly, create fact files about two of the key characters in the Jacobite story so far:

JohnGraham-Fact-File

KingJamesVII&II-Fact-File

You can do all these activities in your jotter or straight onto your personal learning blog.

One of the worst episodes in Jacobite (and Scottish) history was the Massacre of Glencoe.  Use the powerpoint to find out what happened then the questions to record your knowledge:

Massacre-of-Glencoe-Powerpoint

The Massacre of Glencoe Activity

Our art this week starts with a simple activity that you can extend to make as complex as you would like.  I’m looking forward to seeing everything you create so remember to upload photos to your personal learning blog please. Create an image that can have two sides:

Use patterns to fill one side and the inside of the shapes on the other side.  Here are some examples:

Have a great afternoon everyone,

Mrs Morrison and Mrs Lea
