P7 Thursday 21st May AM

Good Morning Primary 7, we hope you took advantage of the nice weather yesterday but remembered to use sunscreen!

Today’s Literacy Work:

For literacy today we are going to be focusing on some literary techniques which when used in your writing, really help to add detail and interest for the reader.  Figures of speech are metaphors that add a lot of colour to your writing and many are used often in day to day conversations.  Have you ever heard someone say it’s raining cats and dogs? What were they talking about? Idioms are figures of speech where the metaphor is even more extreme.  If you look through the Powerpoint you’ll learn more about these and you can complete the tasks in your jotter or type them up.

Start with this Idioms game.

Today’s Mathematics Work:

Here is this week’s BM CLIC test.  These are useful as they challenge you to remember on a range of basic numeracy work like fact families, place value and the 4 number operations.  3 levels of challenge to choose from.

BMBT CLIC Tests-Mild

BMBT CLIC Tests-Spicy

BMBT CLIC Tests-Hot

For the last few weeks we have been learning about reading a timetable, this is a really important life skill. This morning there is one task for everyone and it is reading and understanding a high school timetable. The timetable below is made up however is an example of what you will get when you move to secondary school. Use the skills you have used in the last few weeks to answer the questions in preparation for knowing where and when you should be in what classes. The last set of questions are a bit more personal to you so you may be able to expand further on them.
