Primary 7 Wednesday 27th May AM

Good morning P7, your daily exercise could be part of this morning’s writing if you get a parent’s permission or a parent to accompany you.

Here is today’s Literacy Work:

Some of you may have heard about the Aliens that landed in Livingston 40 years ago but do you believe it?  Research everything you can about it and write your own newspaper report.  There is a video of the man describing what happened and some websites to get you started but you will find more materials using a search engine.  A visit to the landing site would be a good part of your research if a parent is willing to walk with you – there is a pdf map that shows you how to get there.

I am including a PPT which tells you what you need to do to write a newspaper report, a success criteria checklist which you should use to make sure you include everything you need in your writing and a Newspaper template.  The template can be used, or you can just use paper/jotter or you can type it into Word or if you have your own creative way you want to make it, that’s fine to.

We continue our revision of Whole Numbers – this covers place value, ordering numbers, reading scales, rounding and the 4 number operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division).  There are 3 levels of choice but most of you should be working from Spicy so you will be ready for high school maths. Only try Mild if you find Spicy too hard and go for Hot if you usually go for more of a challenge.

Mild Complete Revision Exercise Mild Whole Numbers-3

Spicy Complete Exercises 8 – 11 Spicy Whole Numbers-3 (Revision Exercise is an optional extension)

Hot Complete Revision Exercise Hot Whole Numbers-3

Primary 6 Morning Post 27-05-20

Good morning everyone,

This morning we are going to continue our work using money in our maths.  Begin with the number of the day: 52,693 then do as much of the starter slide as you can:

Maths Starter 27-05-20

There are two main tasks.  The first sheet is subtraction of amounts of money then there is a set of Problem Solving questions.  You will need the Problem Solving Prices sheet to complete the Problem Solving questions:

Money 27th May Mild

Problem Solving with Money Mild

Money 27th May Spicy

Problem Solving with Money Spicy

Money 27th May Hot

Problem Solving with Money Hot

Problem Solving Prices

Our next task for this morning is a topic one.  This tells of a short lived third attempt at a Jacobite Rising in 1719 and contains a copy of a handwritten letter from James VII/II to his loyal subject, John Cameron of Lochiel, who was exiled (banished or forced to live outside his home country) as punishment for supporting the Jacobite cause.  Try reading the letter before you read the translation, I think it is amazingly easy to read considering it was written almost exactly 300 years ago (last week).  You won’t be able to do all the activities as they are meant to be done as a class but think about the questions they ask, how do you think John Cameron would feel about his exile and receiving this letter from his King?  Write a reply to King James as if you were John Cameron.

Jacobite-3rd Uprising

Remember to upload your work to your Personal Learning Blog.  You shouldn’t need to print any of these sheets out.

Have a good morning!

Mrs Morrison & Mrs Lea
