P6 Tasks – Friday 19th June

Good morning P6!  I hope that everyone has had a good week.  Here are your tasks for today:

Task 1  – Health and Wellbeing – Rights Respecting Schools

On Monday, we shared this and asked you to complete no more than 3 of the tasks.  Can you please select others to do for today?  Mrs Miller is looking for evidence for our RRS award so if you are able to type tasks, Mrs Lea and I can pass them on to her to count towards our evidence.  I know that she’ll be appreciative of some quality work from pupils who are going to be our most senior students very soon!

Task 2 – RME

“The greatest among you shall be your servant”  (Matthew 23:11)

During lockdown, Mrs McKissack has continued to work really hard to serve our school community.  Can you write a prayer of thanks for her and illustrate this?  You could make a video and add music/effects or use Sway (you can access this through your Glow account) to make a powerpoint for her.  I know that she would really appreciate this (you might even make her cry!)  Don’t forget to share your tasks on your PLBs.

Class chats at 10am today, we will speak to you soon!

Primary 6 Afternoon Post 18-06-20

Good afternoon Primary 6,

This afternoon I’d like you to spend a bit of time using the Incredibox website.  If you use the online version it is free but you only get access to four sections but this is enough to have some fun and create some great music.  Please don’t try to download the app as you have to pay for it.  The web based demo is free.

You have to “dress” the characters (some need t-shirts, some need headgear).  Every different selection you make for the characters gives you a different loop of music.  You don’t have to dress all seven of the characters but the more sound loops you use the more depth you give your music.  Some loops are purely beatboxing but some also have melodic content (a tune).

https://www.incredibox.com/demo/

Copy and paste the link if it doesn’t work from the blog.

Remember to check in with Mrs Lafferty’s activities for this afternoon too.

Have fun!

P7 Afternoon Post -18.6.20

Good Afternoon Primary 7,

Hopefully you have all had a great week so far and have been enjoying some time outdoors.

I know that most of you were completing transition work last week therefore you would not have been able to complete the technology task that was set.  You were set the task of planning a model of either a Scottish or Canadian landmark.  This week we are going to move on to creating the model.  Here is the link to the task from last week, as you will need to complete this part before you move on to creating your model:

https://blogs.glowscotland.org.uk/wl/stjohnogilvieprimary/2020/06/11/p7-afternoon-post-11-6-20/

It is not expected that you will complete everything today, so don’t worry, you can always work on it over the next week or so.

Once you have completed the Ask, Imagine and Plan stages of the design process you can move on to the final two stages.  These are:

Create:  Make your model, carefully following the plan that you have made.

Improve:  Consider how your model could be improved further and make the changes.

These two stages might overlap as you may find that you need to make changes as you go.

Once you have completed your model, please post a photograph of it on your personal learning blog for us to see.  We can’t wait to see your completed models.

Have a lovely afternoon!

18.06.20 – P4 A and B AFTERNOON POST

Good afternoon, P4s!

We hope you have had a great time with your work in the morning!😃

Here is your afternoon task from us:

Art – Design an Internet safety Mascot, using junk or things lying about in your house, always making sure with your families first if you are allowed to use them! Look in the recycle bin, you might find lots of interesting and unwanted things there!🤣In case you use any of that, don’t forget to wash your hands properly after washing the items you have picked!😉

It can be whatever you want it to be, but you need to give it a cool name and make it super cool as well!

We are looking forward to seeing them in your blogs!

Primary 5 Thursday Afternoon

Good Afternoon, I hope you all enjoyed your challenges this morning. Happy Birthday to a certain young man in P5A.

Last week was world oceans day and we have all learned about the problems of plastic in Tuesdays Comprehension activity. This afternoon I would like you to read through this powerpoint and have a think about how you feel about one used plastics. Then there is an activity to rearrange some statements to create the timeline of what happened to a plastic straw. You can print or write out the statements or simply just write the numbers in the correct order.
