P7 Afternoon Tasks – Tuesday 23rd June

Good Afternoon Primary 7,

I hope you are all having a fantastic week and looking forward to your leaving celebrations on Thursday.  I can’t quite believe that you are all in your last week of primary school.

Since you are all going to be busy on Thursday, we thought we could do some fun art this afternoon instead.  Have you all heard of optical illusions?  An optical illusion can use light, colour and pattern to create images that are deceptive to our brain.  Optical illusions trick our brains into seeing things which may not be real.  Today we are going to create our own optical illusions, but before we do that, have a look at some examples on this website and see if they trick your brain:

https://www.optics4kids.org/illusions

Lots of artists use optical art in their artwork so I thought we could give it a try.  Below, I have attached some you tube tutorials for you to follow.  You will have to follow the instructions very carefully and you may have to pause the video at points to allow you to catch up.  There are also lots of other examples on YouTube so feel free to try out some other ones or you could even try creating one of your own.

Once you have finished, pop it on your PLB so we can see what you have created.

Enjoy your afternoon,

Mrs Craig

23.06.20 – P4 A and B – AFTERNOON POST

Good afternoon, P4s!😃

We hope you have won the morning battle ship game against your families!

For the afternoon, we have the following task:

AFTERNOON TASK – ART AND CRAFT

Draw an appealing and if possible funny poster where you try to convince people to apply sun cream on. You can use a little rhyming poem/sentence that sounds funny but makes people aware of the need to apply sun cream when they are exposed to the sun and particularly when they go to the beach and the UV ( Ultraviolet rays from the sun) level is very high and dangerous.

Our example:

If you want to have fun

when you go into the sun,

you better apply sun cream,

or you will be ready to scream!🤣🤣🤣🤣

Have fun and don’t forget to post your work!😃

Primary 6 Afternoon Post 23-06-20

Good afternoon Primary 6,

I hope you have all had an enjoyable morning and managed to solve the puzzle of the Pirate Captain.  I’ll post the full answers later this afternoon.

This afternoon I’d like you to check in with Mrs Lafferty’s tasks and get active for a while.

Also, have a go at this STEM/Art activity.  I used to make these when I was in primary school.  You can get lots of effects depending on the pattern you choose to create in colour.  I’ll attach two YouTube links to show you how to put them together and a couple of photos with design ideas but please try out your own design.  If you have string or wool, the two sided spinner gives you more patterns and it’s fun trying to keep it spinning for as long as possible but if you don’t have string then a penny or 5p piece works well in the centre.  Draw round a mug or wide glass for your circle and cardboard from a delivery box or even cereal box will work fine.

Have fun everybody!

P7 AM Tasks 23/6

Good Morning Primary 7, we hoped you enjoyed having the opportunity to research and learn all about the political differences between the UK and Canada yesterday.

Today’s Numeracy Work:

Your challenge today is to solve a Murder! Like last week’s Spag Bol Literacy activity but using maths skills to solve the clues and find the killer.

story

suspects

Clue-1, clue-2, Clue-3, Clue-4, Clue-5 As you solve each clue it will give you a message allowing you to eliminate half of the suspects.

Clue 2 asks you to measure angles – if you have a 180 degree protractor at home that’s great but this site would help https://www.ginifab.com/feeds/angle_measurement/ or with a parents’ permission there are free apps you can download for a phone which measure angles.

Today’s Literacy Work

We are finishing off our Location, Location, Location topic by looking at Canada day. Below are a selection of comprehension activities, each link will open up the passage of information you have to read and give you the relevant questions. Remember to use the wording from the questions and what you have read to help you. Answers will be posted this afternoon.

Mild Comprehension

Spicy Comprehension

Hot Comprehension

Remember to post to your PLB!
