Christmas Wishes

On behalf of all of the staff, we would like to thank you for all of your continued support throughout the year and for the many kinds gifts that we have received.

We hope that you are able to have a restful Christmas break with your family whether in person or virtually and we look forward to welcoming all of our children back on Wednesday 6th January.

Heavenly Father,
make this Christmas special for all here today.
Even if we are unable to give presents, help us to give greetings.
Even if we do not receive what we want, help us to let people know that we are grateful that they
thought of us.
Help us to remember what it was like in that stable in
Bethlehem, where the baby Jesus spent his first days with
Mary, Joseph and the animals gathered round, shepherds
assembled outside and the bright star showing the way to
this place, your Son’s first home.
We ask this in Jesus’ name.
Amen

Have a happy and holy Christmas.

Merry Christmas from Primary 7A

Well, we have made it to the end of a very busy and fun-filled term! It was great to have all the children back in the classroom for the final week and what a week it was! It was jam packed with lots of Christmas fun and we certainly didn’t let anything ruin that for us.

On Monday, we watched our buddies put on a very special assembly via teams that reminded us of the reasons we celebrate Christmas in the first place.

On Wednesday, the children had their Christmas party. We played some party games, enjoyed some dancing and ate some yummy party food. It was definitely a hit with the children and everyone went home with a big smile on their face, including the teachers. Thank you Mrs Lafferty for organising this for us. Here are a few pictures of the children in action:

On Thursday, we had our Christmas dinner. It was delicious, thanks to our fantastic dining staff.  The children also enjoyed some Christmas music and dancing in the playground and then we watched a Christmas movie in the afternoon.

On Friday, we wished our buddies a Merry Christmas virtually and read them a Christmas story.

Sadly, this was Mrs Morrisons last week with the class. The children made her a beautiful card and gave her a gift to let her know how much we will miss her. Luckily, Mrs Morrison will still be in the school and she has promised to visit us regularly.

We were delighted to welcome Mrs Robson back to school this week and the children are excited about working with her more after the holidays.

We wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year,

Mrs Craig, Mrs Morrison and Mrs Robson

Primary 7B Weekly Update

Dear Parents,

Here’s an update for this week’s learning in P7B:

We made Christmas Cards for our buddies which we then swapped via Teams on Friday. It was lovely to see them and get to wish them Merry Christmas.

Our Christmas Party was nice this year but we were all disappointed we couldn’t do the usual Scottish Country Dancing but we made do with the Macarena.

On Friday we continued our journey through Advent, lighting the 4th candle of the wreath.

Now we’ll hear an update from this week’s Lead Learners:

This week we had a Christmas party, we played Christmas Corners and Elias won. Then we played musical statues and Brooklyn won.  After we watched The Grinch and on Thursday we watched Elf and got lots of chocolate. Then on Friday we had our last advent service and we had a call with our buddies to exchange Christmas cards.

Alex and Cole

Have a wonderful Christmas everyone,

Mr McGurn & Primary 7B

Primary 5B – WB 07.12.20

Dear readers,

We hope you have had a very good week!

Firstly , congratulations to our Hot Chocolate at home,  Julia, and to our winners of the Weekly note home, Olly, Alex and Tim! They have all been stars and we are all very proud of them! 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏🥇🥇🥇🥇🥳🥳🥳🥳

We had our Mini tables contest on Friday and most people got double points, which shows how much effort they have put into knowing their tables within less than 5 seconds! It was quite impressive!👍👍👍

We have done lots of different art work for our windows to have them ready and beautiful for the whole school’s challenge but can’t send any pictures yet since it is supposed to be a secret and we do not want to have spies…🤣🤣🤣

Our reading comprehension was about the First Nativity and everyone did really well!😃👏

Our writing session was also the planning, using the descriptive bubble, of the story of the Nativity and many of us contributed with great ideas!🎄

We are now very close to finishing off our Wars of Independence topic and some of us have been doing their own research when they go home to learn even more about the subject and share what they have found out with the rest of the class. Well done!😃👍

In PE we have done a super fun Christmas Quiz because the weather didn’t allow us to go outside so we have stayed and have enjoyed ourselves!😂😂😂

The focus of our maths is still multiplication and we have been multiplying by 10, 100 and 1000.

To make sure that we are all getting really better at our spelling, we have completed our big spelling assessments of the end of term as well as our weekly ones.

All the boys and girls are getting very excited about Christmas and the coming holidays and it is getting harder and harder to stay focused when thinking about Santa coming! Ho! Ho! Ho!🎅🎅🎅🎅

Anyway, these are only some of the many things we have done and we hope you have enjoyed reading about them!

Have a wonderful rest of weekend and stay safe!😃

Love from Primary 5B and Mrs Valente❤

Primary 1A Learning Highlights 11th December 2020

This week we have new Christmas activities and we have been playing with the wooden reindeer.  We found a Christmas jigsaw and it is fun to play with it.  We have baubles with letters and we have to use them to make words.  This week we wrote a letter to Santa but not about what we would like for Christmas.  We had to tell him about what we like to do in school.

Yesterday we have been learning about making stories for 10.  We managed to fill the whole smartboard with sums.

This week Sparkle has been writing her sounds, she put up the Christmas tree and got stuck up the top and then she used our mini me’s as reindeer.

We finished recording our Christmas Assembly for the other classes in the school.  We were very good at doing our sign language for our songs.  We are looking forward to Monday to show the rest of the school.

Today we have Crazy Christmas Hair.

We finished our Socks for Santa Christmas Window.  In Art we made some Christmas Baubles and our Reindeer.  During this week we have read lots of books.  Our favourite was ‘Rudey’s Windy Christmas’ ask us to tell you what happened in the story.  It is a very funny story!

We have lots of stars on our Advent Calendar and we have new story books from our Reading Advent Calendar.

Some of our personal highlights this week are:

Ruari – I liked playing in the shop.

Aiden G – I liked when it was Crazy Hair Day.

Minny – I liked playing in the shop.

Eva – I liked playing outside.

Isabel – I liked playing shop.

Julia – I like to play with Zosia and Minny.

Zosia – I like to play with Ella.

Pola – I liked doing play outside.

P1B Week Beginning 7th December

This has been yet another very busy week in P1B.  We recorded our parts for our Christmas Assembly and recorded us signing our Christmas songs.  Mrs Meikle and Mrs Russell said we have been real super stars.

We have been consolidating our learning of sounds. We have been ensuring we are forming them correctly and have been using our sounds to blend CVC words. We have also been practising to read and write our high frequency words. Please remember to access our Virtual Classroom to practise learned sounds and high frequency words.

We have been looking at number stories for 9 and 10 and Mrs Meikle and Mrs Russell are very impressed with how well we are doing.

We have enjoyed completing some Christmas art this week.  We designed our own elf portrait and a Christmas door decoration.  We also made snowmen out of straws

This week we lit our second candle on our Advent wreath.

We have enjoyed our Christmas inspired maths and writing area counting parcels and making up sums within 10.  Writing letters to Santa, writing Christmas cards and designing Christmas jumpers.

Today (Friday) it was Funky Hair we all got the chance to be creative with our hair and also make a donation to the Food Bank.  Thank you everyone who contributed to this worthy cause.  Check out your See Saw page to see your child’s photo.

I liked making my elf- Nicolas

I liked making my snowman – Kacper

I liked playing with the Christmas maths – Scott

I liked writing my letter to Santa – Aaeryn-Leigh

I liked everything – Haadiya

One week left to go it is going to be another exciting week ahead.

Have a lovely weekend everyone and we look forward to seeing you all next week for more learning and Christmas activities.

Primary 5A Learning Highlights 11/12/20

Primary 5 have had another busy week!

Writing   –  In writing we used the descriptive bubble tool to write about the Nativity story. Some of our work was amazing and we enjoyed sharing good examples!

Literacy –  Our reading comprehension was based on the Nativity Story and we were given the opportunity to discuss the language and vocabulary used in the story. It also gave us an opportunity to learn more about the Christmas story.

R.E – We researched Christmas Around The World and it was interesting finding out about the customs and traditions in different countries.

Topic – We researched John Balliol and  shared our findings with our classmates. Primary 5 also worked hard to complete our classroom display.

Art – We have been making snowflakes, paper trees, elves and snowmen for our  Christmas window display challenge, we are all pleased with the final result!

Hot chocolate Award – Congratulations to Junaid on going ” over and above” this week and producing fantastic work. Have a safe and happy weekend

Mrs Lea and P5A
