What a great first week in Primary 5! On Tuesday we created our weekly timetable to help us plan this terms learning.
P5B pupils agreed that Math lessons first every morning would be the best way to start the school day. They decided Literacy should come after morning break. In the afternoons we will have Topic, Science, Art, PE, Music and Outdoor Learning. We also have PE on a Friday Morning as well.
On a Wednesday and Friday P5B pupils are asked to come wearing PE kit with school sweater/cardigan. On a Thursday we have Outdoor Learning, which can be muddy, so if children could come in/with old shoes or wellies.
This week we have been collaborating in small groups to create our Class Charter which we will post when it is completed. Our Class Charter is linked to Childrens rights
P5B lead learners will update our blog every week and will add photographs of the learning pupils are taking part in. I hope everyone has a great weekend and I’ll look forward to seeing everyone again next week. Mrs Miller

Hello P2A families!
Here are the learning highlights of the week from the Red Table:
Julia and Chiji loved when they found out that they were going to be the new Lead Leaners! They will be the final Lead Learners of P2A. The target the picked for the class to work on, was ‘Silence in the cloakroom’.
Joe enjoyed our lesson about sleep and designed some cool PJs to wear to bed. We hid the number 11 inside to remind ourselves of the number of hours children of his age are recommended to sleep.
John loved our time in the woodland were we explored our senses in the Summer.
Zosia said her favourite part of this week was learning about the 5 oceans.
Olivier S liked playing musical instruments with a group to recreate sounds of the sea. We had sounds that recreated bubbles, waves crashing and even dolphin sounds!
David S said he loved our maths lesson on Area. Photos of your child finding the Area were uploaded on to Seesaw.
Mrs Devlin’s highlight was also our lesson on Area. Some children found effective strategies when counting the materials. Some even made links with Times Tables! I was very impressed with this and also the super teamwork.
Congratulations to Pola, our Hot Chocolate award winner this week!

We have had another great week of fun and learning! We are working on writing our own myths and legends story and working on a project to research and present about a commonwealth country. One highlight from this week was our outdoor learning on Tuesday when we took ipads out of the school and used the camera to take close-up, mid-shots and long-range shots of nature. We are hoping to be able to upload some of our pictures to the blog once they have been changed format.
Francesca “I liked doing our commonwealth countries and have learned a lot about Pakistan with Nikola. Our presentation is going very well. I also really liked starting our stories for Myths and Legends and I am really excited to see how my story turns out. ”
Emily “I liked meeting our new teacher on Thursday. We are very excited to have Miss Ventisei next year!” Francesca “I liked making the hands about our personalities and things that we like for Miss Ventisei.”

Aarya “I like taking the pictures outside because I liked looking at nature in a different way and I liked researching Kenya with Ashlyn. We have learned loads.”
Eilidh “I liked learning about Nigeria with Lili and designed a kit for the athletes. We looked at pictures of Nigeria falls at night when it is lit up and it is beautiful”
Lili “I liked playing a game called 21 in PE where you have to run to the middle and run back to your hiding spot before the time runs out.”
Jacob “I liked making the flag for New Zealand. We used paint and it was really good fun!”
Bentley “I liked looking at the commonwealth countries with Tyler. We have been learning about Jamaica. I would like to go there because it is very hot and there are very cool looking houses.”
Max “I liked making my powerpoint about South Africa with Kuba. I have learned that they have a food called Babotie which is made from spiced beef with an egg topping!”
Olivia “I am looking forward to moving into Primary 5 because I like my new teacher!”
Our hot chocolate winner this week is Farrah! Well done on all your hard work this week. 😁
We are looking forward to another week of fantastic P4 learning next week.

Good afternoon dear Readers,
We hope you have had a good week.
This week was a particularly important one since we got to find out about who our new teacher in Primary 4 is going to be.
We were all happy to know we will have Mrs. Ross because we already know her very well and she is kind and caring to all of us.
Mrs Valente will miss us a lot because we are simply amazing and she will never forget about us!😁😪😪😪😪
We wish you all a (hopefully but not very probably) sunny and wonderful weekend!

Hello P2A families!
Here are the learning highlights of the week from the Green Table:
Nathan enjoyed making a ‘Save our Oceans’ poster with a partner. Wednesday was ‘World Oceans Day!’ We have been learning about what we can do to help take care of life below water (Global Goal 14).
Emily liked learning about Mother Teresa and how she helped the sick. We learned how she won the Nobel Peace Prize in recognition for all her good works. Mother Teresa was called ‘Agnes’ at birth. We designed a medal for her.
Ben enjoyed our continued learning about The Zones of Regulation. We did some ‘Whale Breathing (linked to World Oceans Day) to help us get to the Green Zone.
Isabel said her favourite part of this week were the maths stations we had to revise addition.
Lucas loved our learning about digestion. We learned that food gives us the energy we need to move. Once it goes into our mouth, it goes on a long journey, a bit like a rollercoaster ride. We watched an AMAZING video showing food inside a stomach. We then made our own stomachs using a small bag as the stomach, crackers for the food and lemonade to act as the digestive juices. It looked “disgusting” according to our little learners!
Kayla liked working in the Area with a group independently. They completed a comprehension activity called ‘Getting Dressed’.
Mrs Devlin’s highlight was our note-taking lesson. The children listened to lots of information about different sea creatures and had to make notes. We heard about penguins, sharks, narwhals and octopuses.
Congratulations to Ben, our Hot Chocolate award winner this week!
We also want to wish Ollie luck as he travels to America next week for the U.S. Kids World Championship Golf competition! What an achievement! We, at St John Ogilvie, are all so proud of him and look forward to hearing all about his trip! 🏌️♂️🏆🇺🇸

Dear Parents,
Here is an update about this week in P2B.
Anthony – I enjoyed banana tig in PE.
Ksawery – I liked Thursday’s maths, making a big triangle from small ones.
Addison – I like when we got to meet our new teacher, Mrs Broadley.
Cohen – I liked PE because we did some jumping with hula hoops, and tennis.
Ellie-May – We made hopscotch games which were fun.

Amelia and Alex are our new Lead Learners and Ksawery is this week’s Hot Chocolate at Home winner!
For a bit of a change P2B had Mr McGurn as their teacher on Friday and the children were excellent at keeping me right.
The pupils impressed me with their Word Boost work and were even able to use these ambitious words in their Free Writing.
I was taught how to play Banana Tig at PE and they all did really well with their 2, 5, and 10 times tables in maths.
Well done P2B,
Mr McGurn.

Hello families
It has been quite an exciting week because we found out who our P4 teacher is going to be! It is going to be Mrs Lea. We are excited to have her next year and we spent some time making origami photo frames.
We had a little assembly that was a surprise for Miss Lawrence (P2 teacher) who gets married this weekend. When she returns we all need to remember her new name Mrs Wallace.
Maths
This week in maths we have focused on position and movement. We have been learning about co-ordinates. We used a large grid and items from around the class and put them into the correct position using their grid reference.
We also looked at right angles. A right angle is where two lines meet in a shape, or a corner, that is a certain size. We used right angle finders to go on a right angle hunt around the classroom.
We looked at compass points; North, East, South and West.

Literacy
We looked at deciduous trees, which are trees that have there leaves fall off in Autumn and the leaves grow back in Spring and Summer. We answered some questions about the information we read and we used Ipads to research the names of some deciduous trees. For example: Oak, Cherry blossom and Maple.

Topic
For the last few weeks of the term, we are going to be looking at nature for our topic.
We created our own nature names. We also created our own picture using materials we collected from the woodlands. Some of us also decorated letters that spell out nature for our display.

Pupil Highlight of the Week
Zac – I enjoyed playing new games we have learnt in PE.
Alexa – I enjoyed doing the crafts with Mrs Lea.
Millie – I enjoyed doing the nature art.
Daniel – I liked Free Writing Friday and doing the blog.
Aiden – I liked doing ERIC time.
Mariam – I liked going into the woodlands to collect stuff.
