Hello P3 families!
Here are our learning highlights for this week according to the ‘Broxburn’ group:
Daniel enjoyed examining the famous painting by Claude Monet called ‘Spring Flowers’. We discussed how many different flowers we could spot, their position and shape within the painting and then we attempted to draw them. Next week we will add colour. Some children volunteered to research the painting and we found out that there were 13 different types of flowers painted (including peonies, hydrangeas, lilacs and geraniums), it was painted in Paris and is currently in a museum in Cleveland Museum of Art.
Amelia loved our outdoor learning lesson. We were learning about alliteration during Literacy and thought we would find some in nature. We found some interesting ones such as ‘amazing ants, crawling creatures, small sticks, risky roots and long leaves’! We almost found one for each letter of the alphabet!
Tyler liked PE were the children continued to develop their run/jump/throwing skills.
Dawid enjoyed listening to a play called ‘Blueberry Muffins’ about a little boy called Toby who made muffins for his granny’s birthday. We read through it twice, with Daniel and Umeaz playing the role of Toby and Gabby and Laaibah playing the role of Mum.
Izhaan and Umaez then enjoyed when we followed up this lesson with making our own giant blueberry muffin! It was great to see some of the children try new tastes and hear how they then made it at home that evening! The recipe consists of mashing one banana, adding a whisked egg, 2 teaspoons of flour and a handful of blueberries and chocolate chips. You then mix it all together and bake in a microwave for 2mins either in a large mug or bowl.
Vihaan reported that going to the library was something he really enjoyed. The children enjoyed a lovely story (chosen by our birthday girl, Navami) and had time to browse. I have sent home a copy of an application form to those children who were interested in becoming members.
Danvith liked it when we tried ginger bear! The wolf drank it in our Word Boost story ‘Little Red’.
Maja said the best part of her week was when we went to Mass to celebrate the Feast of the Ascension. The children were very respectful.
My highlight was when the children drew the Claude Monet ‘Spring Flowers’. They will be beautiful recreations when they are finished!
Congratulations to our Reading Champion, Gabriella!
I hope you all have a lovely long weekend and I will see you all on Tuesday.
