P3 Week Beginning 26th January 2026

Hello P3 families!

The learning highlights this week come from ‘Bathgate’:

Ellie has enjoyed writing her Robert Burns inspired poem.  Each child chose something in nature and entitled their poem, ‘To a ________’, just like Robert Burns’ ‘To a Mouse’ and other such poems.  We are now ready to produce our final drafts!  Look out for these super poems during February’s parent consultations.  You will be very proud!  This coming week we will also replace some of the words with some of those in old Scots.

Leighton loved being an audience for the P6 ‘Burns Night’ show and I know she was very proud watching her sister perform.

Both Nathan and Vikashini liked gymnastics.  The children continued to work on their shapes and balancing.  Next week, our final gymnastics session will involve learning the teddy bear roll and bunny hops over low apparatus (before we move on to multi sports).

Viaan said the best part of his week was visiting the local woods for some imaginative play.  See the photos below that captured our visit.

Daisy liked music with Mrs Morrison.

My highlight, like Leighton, was watching the P6 show.  I have a soft spot for this year group, having taught both classes in the past.  I was so very proud of them!  We really loved listening to them perform ‘A Red Red Rose’ as our class has been learning that poem in particular this week.  A big well done to all those who bravely recited the poem on Friday in front of the class.  I could tell you had been practising at home as well as at school.  Thank you parents for supporting your child with this.

Congratulations to our reading champion, Maja and our hot chocolate winner this week, Laaibah!

Homework for February will be sent home on Tuesday for those who have opted in.  Also, just a reminder that next Friday will be our last day before the mid term break and we will see your lovely children return on Tuesday 17th February.
