Another fantastic week in primary 6!
Maths: This week we have continued to work on addition, subtraction and multiplication. We enjoyed working with a partner to play a game called cops and robbers using addition and subtraction strategies. We showed our determination during our problem solving activity by completing a 9 by 9 Sudoku quiz, we didn’t give up until we solved it! We also enjoyed our Big Math and tried our best to beat our own scores from the previous week.
Literacy: Our focus this week was to successfully up-level sentences. We used a range of openers, vocabulary, joiners and punctuation to improve our writing. We completed a variety of active spelling activities and this helped us to remember our spelling patterns. We have started to read ‘Gansta Granny’ By David Walliams as our class novel and found words to add to our word boost lists.
IDL: In order to improve our knowledge of volcanoes further we completed a comprehension activity about Volcanoes of the World. We also created 3D models of a volcano which help to show how each layer is made up.
Art: We created vibrant pictures of volcanoes using paint, oil pastels and chalk pastels. Here are some examples of our work below we would like to share with you.
Over and above: Well done to our over and above winner Niamh! Keep up the hard work.
Have a great weekend,
Mrs Roy
