P3 Week Beginning 1st June 2025

Hello P3 families!

Here are our learning highlights for this week from ‘Livingston’:

Navami liked our phonics lesson about the spelling pattern, ‘tion’.  The children were challenged with building the tallest tower with 8 sheets from the recycled paper drawer, in teams, within a given time.  The children came up with very creative ideas; with the tallest structure measuring a whooping 182cms!  After we measured each and created 1st-6th place, we then created some destruction by knocking them down!  That was the best part, according to Navami!

Maks loved Building Thinking Classrooms this week were the children worked together to find out how many scoops of ice cream Mrs Brown and her family had one hot day.

Ollie said the best part of his week was our Word Boost story, ‘Myron’s Magical Cow’ and he liked learning about the vocabulary ‘nudge’ best.  The children are excited to play Word Boost Corners on Monday morning!

Elize enjoyed designing her very own Beebot mat.  Some children are still working on their design.  They are taking their time to make it just right; hoping theirs is chosen to be made in to a mat for the whole class to use in a lesson.  Hopefully we will have the winning design soon!

Leighton said the highlight of her week was going to our class mass today.  The children received a lovely compliment from the priest and congregation about how enthusiastically they joined in with the prayers and singing.

Oscar loved our maths lesson this week on area.  His group decided to use magnetic tiles to find the area of a jotter.  The children knew to use objects that were the same size.  They discovered that the area of the jotter was 20 magnetic tiles.  Afterwards, they learned to find the area of squares and rectangles by counting squares, for a more accurate reading.

Alex and Joseph recount how bench ball was the best part of their week.  The children are excited to learn football skills for PE for the next few weeks (linked to The World Cup).  With so many  children already being in a football club, Mrs Brown is going to have lots of assistant coaches to help!  Lucky me!

I hope you all have a lovely weekend!  (I will amend this post on Monday to record who our Hot Chocolate award winner was as we did not have time today.)
