Primary 1 Learning Highlights 2nd February 2024

This week we have been reading ‘Who’s At The Door?’ as our Wordboost book. We have loved listening to the story and we think it is very funny. We have been knocking the classroom door and pretending to be the characters from the story. In phonics, we learned the ng sound and we had to read words with the sound and cross out the pictures on the sheet. We have started to learn about information reports in writing and we practised using the common words and, have and are.

In maths, we have been learning about odd and even numbers. We used numicon to help us identify the correct numbers. Ask us how we know if the number is odd or even using the numicon pieces. We also continued to practise counting in 2s and we are showing confidence with this.

In topic, we learned about where our food comes from and we had to match up the product to it’s source.

In RE, we have been completing our work for God’s Loving Plan by labelling the parts of the human body.

In PE, we used all our skills in jumping, balancing and rolling to complete activities using the equipment. We had to balance carefully on the benches and jump safely off the small platform.

During Health and Wellbeing with Mrs Broadley we sorted things that are safe or unsafe to touch.

During Choosing Our Own Learning Time some people were very interested in making necklaces by twisting the laces together. They also used some foam beads to create some necklaces too. Some people also had a game of snap, which was great fun!

Some of our personal highlights this week are:

Bella – I enjoyed the Wordboost book.

Zuraib – I enjoyed playing with the cups.

Alfie – I enjoyed drawing on the smartboard.

Eliza – I enjoyed drawing.

Maksymilian – I enjoyed playing with the marble run.

Miss Stebbing – I was very proud of everyone during PE. They all showed that they had listened to the safety rules and were able to show different skills on the equipment.
