This week, P6B have been finishing off their Ancient Civilizations posters where they have been split into groups to research information. We will be presenting our findings to the class next week.

Some facts shared from the groups:

Vikings: Vikings Had their own alphabet called the Runic alphabet

Ancient China: The Chinese flag was chosen by almost 3,000 entries

Ancient Rome: Rome’s nickname is the Eternal City because it is still standing.

Ancient Greece: Even after 3,000 years we are still using Ancient Greece’s findings in maths, science, and art.

Ancient Egypt: The Egyptians settled in on a valley with rocks. The Egyptians painted pictures, one of them being cattle, because Egypt used to be completely green like Scotland.

Stone Age: The Stone Age killed animals for food and clothes to survive, using weapons made from stone.

Ancient Sumer: Sumerian is the oldest language that we can read.

In maths, we have been looking at using rounding to estimate, and estimating timings doing certain activities.

In literacy, we developed our narrative skills by looking at how to add suspense and tension when a problem arises! Emma said: “suspense and tension make you feel like you are actually in the book and has you on the edge of your seat!”

With Mrs Callaghan on Thursday, we were learning to find the specific Hymns in the Hymn book and practiced singing them. We sounded like angels!
