P6-7 Jacobite Showcase

P6/7 have been using a variety of sources to find out about the Jacobites. As there was so much to find out they decided to, in groups research and find out about an aspect of the Jacobites. They then presented this through Drama, Music and Song and Power Points to parents, carers and Mrs Mitchell our Head Teacher. We received positive comments on our feedback sheets. Parents and carers would like us to do much more of this . The class thought that this was a fun and creative way to do a topic.

Emma ,Freya and Kerys set the scene about who the Jacobites were. We sang “Ye Jacobites by Name”

Cain , Ethan, Edward and Lewis did a drama about the Battle of Killiecrankie . We sang “The Braes O ‘Killiecrankie O”.

Lucy , Shannon Mcmahon and Oliwia then showed a powerpoint about the Glencoe Massacare. We sang “Cruel Was The Snow.”

Pacey, Pawel, Lennon and Logan showed a power point about The Act Of Union in 1707 and did a drama showing people signing the Articles . We sang “Parcel of Rogues.”

Asia, Evie and Hannah again showed a power point they had made  telling us about Bonnie Prince Charlie landing on Eriskay, gathering the clans together and some of the battles. We sang ” Welcome Royal Charlie.”

Aaron, Damien and Ty acted out a drama that went with a short film clip as part of their power point on The Battle of Culloden.

We listened to “Culloden’s Harvest.”

Shannon McB,  Shannon P, Emily and Callum showed us another power point and finished by acting out Bonnie Prince Charlie escaping. We sang the Skye Boat Song.”

We finished by thanking our audience and remembering that the past affects the present. We wonder how things like BREXIT and the elect President of the USA will be remembered in years to come.

“Remember, wha’s like us? A few an they’re aw deid!”
