Today Nikola’s mum came to visit our classroom. She told us about Christmas in Slovakia.

In Slovakia the special meals is eaten the night before Christmas – Christmas Eve.

 

Special bread is shared amongst friends and family.

 

An apple is chopped in half – if the star is nice and clear then a good year is ahead.

To start the meal you are given a piece of garlic dipped in honey.

Then you would have cabbage soup with mushrooms and sausage.

For the main meal you would eat Carp and potato salad.

Nikola’s mum also brought in some lovely Slovakian gingerbread biscuits.
