Fun in the Snow!

Lots of snow hasn’t stopped David and his little sister from having fun outdoors!

Building an igloo with Dad might have been hard work but it looks great! Well done!

If anyone else in P2/1 have any ‘Snow day’ pictures they would like to share, please send them to me on Class Dojo and I will post them to the school blog.

Try a Little Kindness P5

Good Morning Primary 5!

Kindness Challenges for you today

I know you won’t see as many people as usual today but that will make this challenge more interesting!

I challenge everyone in Primary 5 to do 10 random acts of kindness today.

Remember some of our ideas:

-Hold the door open for someone                                            – Smile at people

-Lay the table for dinner                                                            – Clean your room without being asked

– Do a job for someone without them knowing                     – Compliment someone

-Read a book to someone                                                           – Make a thank you card for someone

-Teach someone something new                                              – Make a homemade gift for someone

I also have uploaded some Winter Olympic Maths Sheets for you to pick between.

Keep yourself safe and warm and have a day full of kindness!!

Primary 3 – World Book Day

As we were going to be celebrating World Book Day today in class, here are some activities you could still do at home to be shared back in school:

Write a review of your favourite story – describe your favourite part/ character and explain why you like this.

Draw your favourite book character, use interesting vocabulary to write down words to describe this character around the page.

Write your own snow adventure story to be shared in class.

Take part in shared reading – read a story with mums/dads/brothers/sisters/grannies/grandads – anyone at home!

Make a world book day snow scultpure – be creative and try to make your favourite book character from snow 🙂

I look forward to seeing photos & hearing all about your snowy adventures.

Miss Calder 🙂

Primary 5 Update

Hello Primary 5! I hope you are having a lovely snow day!

Since it is World Book Day I have some more challenges for you!

World Book Day Challenges

Enjoy reading your favourite book today with a lovely hot drink.

Recommend a good book to someone. Maybe even in the comments here!

Make puppets of characters in your book and act out parts of it with people at home.

Since a lot of you enjoy Art, I have some Art Challenges for you as well!

Art Challenges

Imagine a world where something else fell from the sky instead of snow (Cats, sweets, coffee, you decide). Draw or paint what this would look like.

Design the ultimate sledge. Make sure you include lots of detail and label all it’s amazing features.

Go outside and make a snow sculpture. Get a parent to take a picture and upload it to the blog.

I am excited to see all the things you have got up to when we get back!

Have a safe and warm day!

Mrs Craig

Euroquiz postponed

Unfortunately the West Lothian heats of this year’s EUROQUIZ which were due to take place tomorrow have had to be postponed due to the snow.  Hopefully a new date will be set soon and our Euro-tastic team will be able to put all their hard work to use.  Thank you all for all your hard work and commitment so far Lewis, Mia, Zac, Robbie, Emma and Eryn!  It has been a pleasure to work with you all – and fun too!

Outdoor Learning for P2/1

Hands up if you are missing school yet!

Here are some Science activities to keep you busy if you are brave enough to venture outside!

Anyone going sledging today?!  Does the weight of an object make it go faster/further down a slope? What does friction do to an object moving down-hill? Is sledging a push or pull force? Or both?!

Can you build a snowman taller than you?  What force (push or pull)  do you use when building a snowman?

Make a snowball, weigh it.  Watch what happens to the snowball when it is indoors.  When it has completely melted, weigh is again?  Is there any change?  Can you draw the snowball at the start and then at the end of your experiment?

I’ve added a Snow Hunt activity that you could do IF you are out and about.

Have fun whatever you are doing today and remember to stay warm and safe!

P7/6 World Book Day

Good Morning Boys and Girls,

Hope you managed to have lots of fun in the snow yesterday. I have seen some of your photos on class dojo and some of them are absolutely brilliant. A prize will go to the best one. I managed to go out for a walk/slide in the snow but I might need to go and dig out my poor car this morning-It has been caught in a snow drift 🙁

Anyway, as it is World Book Day I thought I would upload some resources for you to try. Please do not worry if you can’t print these off. You can just write down the words that you find from the cross word and draw out the selfie idea onto paper if you have any. Also, please continue to read your class novels with a yummy cup of hot chocolate and your duvet. Stay snug and cosy today.

Stay safe everyone.
