Creating Sculptures in class and outdoors using different materials
The pupils who have chosen to stay in school, while the happy campers are away are having lots of fun learning experiences too!
The pupils were learning about the art of sculpture by exploring different artists, such as Andy Scott and Antony Gormley. They were then challenged to use playdough to create animals sculptures and playing cards to build tall structures. We also went outside and used natural materials to try to create our own animal sculptures.
p7 and P6 Alternative Week
Good afternoon everyone,
Today, Mr Young came to support the boys and girls in playing Boccia-a game similar to french Bowls and lawn bowls. They were all given a small ball and had to practice some target games before playing the real game. They children really enjoyed the game and are looking forward to some tasty treats later on today!
Here are some photos of the boys and girls having fun!
P 5/4 Trip
P 5/4 Visited Pets at Home this morning.
We have been learning about how to look after pets in class and we decided as a class that we would like to get a Pet Fish for the class.
During our visit to Pets at Home in Livingston today, a lovely man called Liam spoke to us about lots of different pets. We were allowed to pet some animals, such as a rabbit and guinea pig. Liam brought out a snake, frog and lizard for us also to have a look at. We fed all of the fish in the tanks and then we were lucky enough to be able to pick out our very own tank and fish for the class. This afternoon we have set up our tank, which we have to leave for 3 days, so that it will be ready for the fish to live in. Miss Hanlon will go back to the store to collect our fish for the tank.
We have all had a lovely day and we cannot thank Liam and Pets at Home enough for all of their help today.

Our Week In P3
It has been a busy week in class this week.
We have worked hard with Primary 3/2 to prepare and practise our Ancient Egypt assembly. We feel proud of ourselves for working hard and we hope everyone enjoyed it! Thank you to everybody who came along to watch us.
Our Egypt topic isn’t over quite yet as we are still working on rescheduling our museum trip and we will share details soon.
We loved watching the upper school’s dress rehearsal on Wednesday afternoon. Well done to everyone who made the Jungle Book amazing.
We have been writing imaginative stories about characters in Egypt. We are working on including VCOP in our work.
We have been focussing on early times tables by playing lots of active games. These can be practised at home too by using sumdog and education city.
We spoke about Fairtrade Fortnight and identified foods which are fairtrade and why these are important.
We hope you have a great weekend!

P2/1 Learning
This week in P2/1 we were learning about how things work. We had a to decide if they worked using batteries or electricity from the sockets.
We went for a walk around the school to find out about the different things.
A clock works using batteries. – Kayleigh
A mobile phone has a battery but we have to plug it in to charge it. – Harris
Computers are plugged in to the wall with wires. – Kian
A kettle is plugged in. – David
In Mr Wilson’s wee room there was a fridge and that is plugged in to the wall. -Rhys
The remote control for the Smart Board works with batteries. – Ruby
The photocopier had a plug so it gets it’s electricity from the socket. – Cooper
We also did some World Book Day activities on Monday. We listened to the story of Shifty McGifty and Slippery Sam. Then we watched the illustrator draw Sam and we copied him. You can see some of our work below. All the other pictures will be displayed on the wall outside of our classroom so you will be able to see them at Parent Consultations.
We have also been keeping ourselves healthy by joining in with some Go Noodle activities to raise our heart rates, followed by some yoga to cool ourselves down and stretch out our muscles!
Have a good weekend everyone!
