A busy week in P3

We enjoyed our trip to the National Museum of Scotland this week. We took part in an Ancient Egypt trail around the museum, completing challenges all about our Egypt topic. We saw a sarcophagus, a mummy and we found the Ancient Egyptian God Sekhmet.

We have been practising some new songs for our class assembly next Friday (27th April) and we are looking forward to sharing our work with you all.

We have continued writing letters this week. Yesterday we wrote thank you letters to the people at the museum who helped with our trip.

In maths we have worked on our problem solving skills, reading questions carefully to find the answers to number problems.

In PE we worked on lots of exercises to help keep us fit. We are enjoying taking part in ‘bodycoach’ work outs each week.

We hope you have a marvellous weekend in the sun!

P2/1 Learning outdoors!

Lots of learning took place this week in P2/1.

One of the things we enjoyed most was our outdoor learning activity.

We took the opportunity on Monday (while the weather was dry) to get out and do some Outdoor Learning.  We were revising what we could remember about length (long and short). We collected lots of twigs and sticks of different lengths and then compared them.  Then we had to decide which one was the longest and which was the shortest.  Once we had done that we had to sort all of the other sticks in order of length.  We had to label our display so that others would understand what we were learning about.

Busy morning in P5/4!

Thank you so much to our P7 Maths Ambassadors for spending time in our class this morning, playing multiplication games with us – we loved it! It’s a fun way to use our knowledge of multiplication facts.

We had the chance to use some of the new maths resources today – the new data handling whiteboards came in handy when we were learning to create our own bar graphs. Mrs Stewart also loves our visualiser (she’s been using it lots this week!) – it made it easy for us to work together to collate the data we needed to make our graphs.

Have a lovely weekend!:-)

Our Week in Primary 3

We have had a brilliant and busy week in class.

We have started letter writing this term by writing letters to the main character in our new class novel ‘The Creakers’.

We all have new reading books that we will practise at home and in our groups in class.

In numeracy we have practised times tables by doing different activities and playing games. We can show the 2 times table using arrays.

We have written some spring time poems and done some spring time art. We made dandelion pictures using finger painting and sunflower paintings using different art techniques.

In PE we did some work outs with the Body Coach. These help to keep us fit and are good fun too!

We have started practising for our P3 assembly that will be on Friday 27th April.

Have a jolly weekend,

Primary 3 and Miss Calder

A Day out at Oatridge Campus!

This morning the P7 boys and girls had a fabulous time at Oatridge Campus-promoting Life Long Learning skills for all. The children visited different stalls to look at what areas you could potentially apply for through Oatridge Campus and eventually work for in the future. There were some very interesting stalls including an Ice-Cream stall, Scottish Shortbread, Scotch Beef, a simulator tractor, 2 day old lambs and plenty more. It was a lovely morning out and the boys and girls had a fabulous time.

Here are some photos of our day at Oatridge.

Here are some of the red and blue groups spelling words, which I discussed with some parents during Parent’s evening. We will be looking at these words over the next few weeks, but please note these may change slightly in class.

Here are also some Maths and Numeracy sheets that you can work on at home. These are not homework and I do not need to see your answers to these, they are just extra practice for you.
