In certain extreme circumstances the Language Centre could be closed while other schools in the authority are open. In this situation you will be contacted directly by a member of the Language Centre staff. However if all schools in West Lothian are closed we will also be closed.
The children have been investigating with paint and discovered that if you mix all the colours together it becomes brown. They made a pumpkin lantern for Halloween.

On the 15th of December we are having a non-uniform day. We would like children to come to school in Christmas Jumpers and donate a £1 towards Save the Children.
You do not need to splurge on a new jumper, you can get the children to be creative and make their own unique Christmas jumper! There will be a prize for the best “SUPER SILLY SWEATER”! 🙂 This means get your tinsel, baubles, pom poms at the ready! At Murrayfield we are always encouraging our pupils to be creative so lets get our silliest sweaters on for December 15th! 🙂

We were proud to have two of our Primary 7 House Captains, Lara Findlay and Aarin Higgins represent us at the P7 Pupil Consultation on Friday 6th October 2017 at West Lothian’s Civic Centre. There, they met with other P7 pupils from selected Primary Schools across the Authority to give their views on the quality of the education they receive. Following the Consultation, they were given a quick tour of the Council Chambers. What a terrific experience!
I have just received training in LEGO based therapy and I am hoping to begin work soon with some groups of children in our school.
LEGO® based therapy is a social development programme based on the highly structured, systematic and predictable nature of LEGO play. Through LEGO therapy, children can learn to communicate with others, express their feelings, change their behaviour, develop problem-solving skills and develop a relationship with the world around them.
In order to get started, we will need to build up a bank of LEGO resources to enable us to work with the children. We would be very grateful if you could have a look for any LEGO or DUPLO in new or very good condition which you would be happy to donate to the school to help us. Loose LEGO would be great, as would any small, complete boxes of LEGO or DUPLO with instructions included, as instructions are required for some of the activities.

Some of the children at Murrayfield are making good use of twiddle muffs in school. Twiddle muffs can help children, who need to fidget, to concentrate and focus on listening tasks.

Congratulations to everyone who entered our Get Caught Reading! challenge. The pictures are displayed on our Get caught Reading! display and on the LCD.
Our pupils and staff were caught reading on trampolines, broomsticks, ponies, sun loungers and even at the swimming pool!
Prizes and certificates were awarded at today’s assembly to Lyle, Carra, Eryn, Zoe, Jaxon, Kirstin and Melanie.
We have been learning new vocabulary related to houses and homes. In P2/3 we have used our imaginations to design our own fantasy houses. We then talked about what we would have in the houses, what imagination the children have. In p1 the children were learning about the vocabulary related to the inside of their house.
Today we were out in the local area looking at different house styles, including flats, detached, semi detached and terraced. We discussed the different vocabulary that can be used for post boxes, bus stops and street signs. We practiced our Green cross code by listening and looking carefully for traffic.
When we returned we used google earth to look at the children’s own houses and they used the vocabulary to describe their own house
Today at Assembly a whole school challenge was issued.
