P5 News

This week we have been looking at Division facts and a variety of different strategies we can use.

We summarized a short text during reading routes and looked at adjectives in grammar .

Gemma Fay from Champions in Scotland came for a visit. We experienced a day in the life of an athlete. She taught us that you can not achieve success without effort.

This weeks skillionaires were Skyeblue and Logan. Well done!

Congratulations to Skyblue , Abbie and Connal for their wider achievements in swimming and rugby. R0014093

This week in P5

Our first week back kicked of with a fantastic trip to the Kelpies in Stirling. P5 learned so much. Did you know that a Kelpie is actually a Scottish water spirit and they eat humans. The boys and girls of P5 had the opportunity to explore shape and line while sketching these magnificent structures. We even had a chance to have some fun in the park before we came back to school.

What have P5 been up to?

We are enjoying our topic on Wallace and Bruce and P5 found the Battle of Stirling bridge very interesting. They had to write a letter to their families informing them that they have decided to join Wallace’s cause.

P5 are working on their enterprise. It is a Easter enterprise!!

They had great fun with Mrs. Walker baking and making lovely Easter treats! These will be available from next week. 50p each.

There will also be a Easter Raffle with the chance to win a beautiful Easter Bunny. 20p a ticket or £1 for a strip.

This week in P5

P5’s have been working on a secret mission. They have been secret spies on a secret mission of friendship. It was fantastic. We ended this with a friendship party and started making friendship bracelets.

We have worked on our scotts and have created comic strips. They are faer braw.

P5 worked on presenting information using Venn and Carroll diagrams.

We finished a series of art lesson with Mrs. Melia by using a variety of materials such as coffee, charcoal and putty rubber to create artwork on Scottish landmarks.

We all enjoyed our fantastic Masterclasses.

Today we had to say farewell to Mrs. Melia. We have all loved having her in our class and are unanimous when saying that we have learned so much from her. Thank you for all you have done for P5 and we wish you all the best for the future.

We are going to MISS you very much.R0013549

Voice Rocks!!

We were extremely lucky to have Rachel from Voice Rocks in school. She came to work with all the P5’s. We had tremendous fun working with music and especially our voices.

The P5’s discussed what they used to make sound and more importantly sing. We had great answers ranging from our voice boxes, to our stomachs and backs, our lungs and most importantly our diaphragm .

Rachel taught the children three songs and the children then sang them in a canon or also known as a round. Very tricky! The children did a fantastic job and it sounded amazing.

Flyers have been handed out and this wonderful resource is FREE!
