Subject: Youthwork in West Lothian

I am writing to you as the new secretary of West Lothian Battalion of The Boys’ Brigade. I wanted to take this opportunity to make you aware of the large scale of voluntary work carried out across West Lothian.On Saturday 25th September 2021, we will be hosting a free family fun day in conjunction with West Lothian Division of The Girls’ Brigade. This is a means of restarting youth work in West Lothian for both of our organisations in a manner where young people can come together and enjoy themselves in a safe environment and escape the virtual lifestyle that we have all been accustomed too throughout the pandemic. The event will be held at the fields in Howden Park, across from Livingston Police Station from 13:30pm till 4pm, and is open to all young people across West Lothian. Therefore, I would like to call upon your support as representatives of West Lothian to help make our community aware that this is taking place and is open to all. On the day we will be offering various activities from team building skills and crafts to Foot pool and everything in between, ensuring we have something age appropriate for all.

Mr Povey Retires!

Today in school, we were very privileged to have our wonderful Mr Povey visit us for the first time in a long while.

Mr Povey has decided to retire and our Mid Calder Primary community wanted to mark this special occasion: each class designed and made a retirement card filled with messages of thanks and congratulations. We were able to hold a very small scaled, socially distanced event in school to present him with our special wishes.

We shared some of our special memories with him, including lots of assemblies, performances, nativities and memorable church occasions from over the years.

A huge congratulations from all of your Mid Calder Primary School family Mr Povey – we wish you a long and very happy (and relaxing!) retirement. We will never think about celebrating the school end of summer term in the same way again!! #schoolsoutforsummer
