LI; We are learning to apply our knowledge and understanding of healthy choices to design a new health product.
SC;
I can design a new healthy food or drink product that incorporates two or more food groups.
I can make my product using the correct ingredients.
Last week we had fun making our fruity desserts. We used our recipes from the ‘Apprentice challenge’ and our recipe writing project in class. After looking at our recipes closely we had to write a shopping list with all ingredients we would require and list all equipment needed for this session.
We were all very excited about our creations and the excitement of eating/drinking them afterwards! Firstly we talked about hygiene in the kitchen and safety rules when using sharp knives. We all washed our hands and prepared the surface area we were going to work on.
Desserts detailed below:
Caitlin N and Anna made Healthy fruit boats
Laura and Olivia made Berry Boo smoothie
Charlie, Louis and Euan made a Raspberry crush smoothie
Zach, Reece and Harry made Blueberry Bananza smoothie
Ayla and Louis made Fruit cocktail
Holly and Caitlin N made Mr Pears
Rudi, Reno and Ben made a Cloudy smoothie
Connor and Ellis made Berryblue smoothie
Trystan, Chiaro and Jacob made an Orange delight smoothie
Ayla and Holly commented, “We really enjoyed making our own product come to life and the best bit was eating it with a little fresh cream!!”

Well Done Aidan!
Massive congratulations to Aidan in P4/3 who won ‘Webkinz Tiger’ following his successful birthday guess of March 17th.
Aidan said ”I am happy to have won the tiger, I really hoped I’d guess its birthday”.
Aidan’s teacher, Miss Kerr, commented ”I am delighted for Aidan. He made a few entries in the competition and he is a very worthy winner. Well done Aidan”.
A big thank you to everyone who took part in the competition. We have successfully raised enough funds to adopt a tiger and we have already begun to organise this. Watch this space!
Using a Calendar
We are exploring how people plan and make decisions about their time and how these are recorded. MNU 2-10a
– I can give examples of how people record times or dates that are important to them.
– I can interpret calendars and can ask and answer questions about the information they show.
This week Primary 6 have moved onto a different aspect of Maths – time. We started with a discussion about the different ways people record dates and important events. These included diaries, calendars, phones, electronic diaries, letters and post-its. Today during our rotations we investigated calendars. One group worked with Mrs Findlay to create their own calendar, then they had to devise questions about their calendar. One group worked with Miss Burton to find out dates of events from calendars. One group worked on Sum Dog to answer questions about calendars.
St. Patrick’s Day Theme at Breakfast Club
This morning we had Breakfast Club with a difference to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day. Children had the opportunity to have potato bread – ‘tattie scone’, listen to Irish music and complete some crafts. Thank you to to Mrs Findlay and Mrs Walker for organising this for us.
Findlay’s fantastic Fours!
The Fantastic Fours had a wonderful time in Dalguise. They were confident individuals in each challenge they were given and behaved like responsible citizens by taking care of themselves and each other. The children learned successfully how to drive a quad bike and complete challenges they didn’t think possible. Well done Team Four!
