Primary 5C Class Charter

All of P5c are very excited about the start of our P5 journey and looking forward to all of the challenges ahead. We have spent the first 2 weeks of term getting to know one another and deciding what we need to do to ensure we have a safe, calm and happy environment to work in. The boys and girls decided on a ‘Busy Bee’ theme for our class charter, as we are all expecting to be kept very busy in the coming months…

We revisited our school values and the children came up with lots of ways in which we can make sure these are upheld. We then decided on which childrens’ rights to include and discussed what we will need to do to ensure everyone’s rights are met; these were displayed on flowers which we made to keep our bees busy!

We have all signed our class contract and hopefully our P5c Charter will help us to have a happy and successful year this session.

P1P Class Charter

During the first two weeks, Primary 1 have been looking at the story of the Rainbow Fish by Marcus Pfister. This story is all about being kind and friendly to others through sharing. We thought this linked well to our own classroom expectations and some of our School Values.

Through various activities we have explored the Rainbow Fish further and have also shared our thoughts and ideas on our school’s values. We used these brilliant ideas to create a Rainbow Fish themed Class Charter that also linked to the UN Rights of the Child.

Each bubble contains something that we think is important for us in and around the classroom and each shell contains one of our school values. We have all signed a scale on the Rainbow Fish to remind ourselves that we have agreed to our Class Charter and will use this throughout Primary 1. Brilliant work Primary 1!

P1 Time

This week we have been reflecting on our learning about Time.

LI We are learning to read o’clock times

SC I can recognise the o’clock time on an analogue clock face

I can recognise the o’clock time on a digital display

We talked about why it is important for us to know about time, and to be able to tell the time. Here are some of our ideas –

You need to know the time so you’re not late for school.

We need to know when it’s bedtime.

We don’t want to be late for going outside to play.

As part of our learning we made clocks, used plasticene to show the time on clock faces, played matching games, played bingo games and played Stop The Clock on the Smartboard.

We are getting very good at reading the time on the clock in the classroom, and we can remind Mrs Smith when it is almost lunch time, and when it is time to tidy up at the end of the day!

Sometimes we are even beginning to recognise ‘half past’ times too.

Term 4 Celebration Assembly

Today we had our final Celebration Assembly. The Technical Troopers past and present were recognised for their contributions across our whole school community, from supporting teachers to setting up for CEMs, presenting to WL Head Teachers and staff to organising our Digital Award Accrediation. They have worked very hard to embed digital learning across our school and nursery.

We awarded Remarkable, STEM Superstars and Top Scorers for the term. Congratulations to everyone who received an award.

Congratulations to Cunigar for winning the house cup this term.

P3’s Transition Challenge

Over the last two weeks we have been learning how to do a transition challenge to show Mrs Walker’s Primary 2s what it will be like in Primary 3!

To prepare for this we were arranged into small groups. In our groups we had to work together to decide how we would present our given area. The areas we shared were:

  • What is expected from a P3 pupil.
  • What topics we covered.
  • What Numeracy and Maths looks like in P3.
  • What Literacy looks like in P3.
  • What Health and Well-being looks like in P3.

Lewis C: We worked well as a team because were talking nicely to each other.

Daisy: I enjoyed making props for our presentation.

Alex: I enjoyed creating and presenting a role play about being independent in the classroom.

Carla: I really liked writing a script and making props.

Marc: I really liked making pictures with a script on the back.

Terrific Transitions from Primary P4a

This week we have been incredibly busy making transition videos and presentations for Primary 3. We explained what to expect in 5 main areas including Mathematics, Literacy, IDL, Health and Wellbeing and Routines. Each group presented information about what they have learned during the year and expectations in Primary 4. We put a lot of effort to make sure our presentations were clear and they included key examples from each area. We gave some demonstrations about where to line up in our houses, where to find lunchtime information and the different times that our routines take place. Additionally, we gave a demonstration in Number Talks and explained that there is higher expectations across all areas of the curriculum. Well Done Primary 4a for all your fantastic effort for making a really successful presentation.
