This week primary 4 have been looking at effective strategies for multiplication. The children have enjoyed sharing their strategies and deciding which methods they find the most efficient for different multiplication sums.

We even made learning posters to show which strategies we have learned. When multiplying 1 digit by 1 digit we can use:

-Arrays

-A bar model

-Repeated addition

-Equal grouping

-Empty number lines
