P7/6 had a great time at Aberdour on Wednesday. We played on the sand showing off that toolkit skill of collaboration and some of us were even brave enough to have a paddle in the water too. We have been learning about description in writing and today we wrote a descriptive recount about our day at Aberdour using our class describing bubble to help us with adjectives.
On Wednesday, the whole school enjoyed a trip to Aberdour Beach. We had lots of fun playing in the sand, building sandcastles and playing in the water. Today, during our writing lesson we described our time at the beach using adjectives, describing bubble and our 5 senses.
This week we took ourselves outside for our art lesson. We used our creativity and critical thinking skills to collect natural resources and created a twig person. The pupils had a great time enjoying the outdoors while making some lovely artwork!
Our new P1 pupils have made a fantastic start at school, learning our school rules and values from their P2 classmates and their P7 buddies. We have made the most of the lovely weather in our garden, and have already started making plans to continue to improve this amazing space. There has been lots of fun and learning inside and outside the classroom including stories, singing, painting, building campsites and trains, reading together, learning to write, balancing, throwing and catching, measuring, counting and parachute games.
This class are showing wonderful listening skills and eagerness to learn. The P2s are doing a great job of showing kindness to their new classmates and helping them settle in, and the P1s are loving all the new opportunities to explore.
P6/5 have started their first genre of writing this year. Learners will read and write descriptive pieces this term. This week the children wrote their ‘cold piece,’ (a chance to demonstrate what they know already about writing descriptions). This is a great way to identify strengths and areas for improvement and to track progress over the next few weeks. The children are looking forward to ‘bumping up’ their work as they learn how to include more descriptive words and phrases in their pieces. This week they enjoyed writing about a popular film character.
