World Flags

P3/2 have finished off their Scotland topic just in time to move onto a new mini topic focusing on the World Cup. We began by looking at all the world flags and used our knowledge and research skills to label each flag. Miss Smith was super impressed by our knowledge of flags. Next lesson we are going to arrange them into their continents before looking at different cultures and of course football. We are so excited about this topic!

P3/2 Class Trip

P3/2 had lots of fun at the museum today as part of our class topic. The children explored lots of different areas in the museum such as music, space, animals and Ancient Egypt. The children were a credit to Longridge Primary School.

P3/2 Health and Wellbeing

In health and well-being, the children took part in a fun and engaging hand washing experiment to learn about germs. We used pepper to represent germs on our hands and discovered when we put our finger in the water without soap, the “germs” stuck to us. However, when we added soap, the pepper quickly moved away, showing how soap helps remove germs effectively. We then created a hand washing sequencing to help people wash their hands correctly.

Outdoor Maths

P3/2 participated in some outdoor learning in maths today. They worked together in pairs using metre sticks and rulers to estimate and measure the length of different objects. They measured the objects accurately using the correct instrument and units, recording their answers in metres or centimetres. This was a fun activity which helped children develop the skill to measure using the correct unit and instrument. It was lovely to take our learning outdoors in the sunshine ☀️

Division

P3/2 have been developing their understanding of division by using a sharing strategy with cubes and plates. Through this practical activity, learners explored how quantities can be shared equally into groups, helping them to build confidence in division and further develop their problem solving skills.
