P3 Learning Activities

Good morning P3. I hope you all had a good weekend and are ready for our learning activities today?

I have asked that you all practise the last set of Fry’s Words- set 300. It is important you can recognise these words and can read them.

We are also going to go over what a reliable historical source is. We watched Magic Grandad a few weeks ago and learned about transport, the Great Fire of London and different types of toys. You also interviewed  an older relative or family friend by phone or Face time.  Mrs Clayton has kindly made a video about what sources are and if we can trust them.

Please take a look at this photo and article about The Loch Ness Monster, copy the link and paste into your browser. It will take you to the National Geographic page and tell you some interesting facts about a photograph taken many years ago.

https://video.nationalgeographic.com/video/00000144-0a3a-d3cb-a96c-7b3fe4780000

We are also moving on from division and will be learning about area. We will be learning what area is and how we can work it out. Any questions, feel free to email me on the school email address.

P2 15th June

Good morning P2!

This week we are going to do a topic all about bees! Your instructions are in your learning grid. You can choose to design your project in any way you would like. It could be a poster, a book, a PowerPoint or anything you like! We will be working on the projects all week.

I have allocated you a new book on Active Learn for this week. You also have a new challenge on Sumdog! You have until Friday to complete the challenge.

Here is your first learning grid for Bee Week:

Monday Bee Week

I can’t wait to see your finished projects!

Let me know if you need any help with anything at all.

Have a great day!

P3/2 – Monday 15th June

Good morning P3/2,

Welcome to another new week.  We only have two weeks left of school before the summer holidays.

This week is going to be a little different.  All week I am going to ask you to work on a special project all about bees.  This might seem like quite a strange topic but as you will find out this week bees are really important to us.  This topic will link back to all the work we did on looking after the planet and food chains as well.  It is up to you how you choose to present your learning.  You might make an information book or a poster.  You could write an information report and add a bit more to it each day or if you have access to a computer and know how to, you could even make a power point.  Each day the grid will have information on a new part of the topic and a suggestion for an extra activity you might want to try.  You are also very welcome to do some of your own research to add to your project.

Bee week Monday

I have given everyone a new reading book and added some more games to Active Learn and there is also Sumdog still available if you want to do some maths work.

I hope you have a busy buzzy day.

P1 and P2/1- Monday 15th June

Hello P1 and P2/1,

We hope everyone had a lovely weekend! As some of you might have figured out, we are going to be planning a virtual ‘Zoo Trip’ this week. We were very sad to have missed our school trip in March to the Fiver Sisters Zoo so we thought it would be great to try and do something just as fun online!

This week we will be planning our virtual trip to Edinburgh Zoo together! Everyday there will be a variety of tasks to complete on the run up to the busy trip day on Friday! We will upload a grid every morning outlining the tasks.

On Thursday we will upload the schedule for the virtual trip which is set out as an itinerary for the day. (Obviously keeping to the exact times on the schedule as Miss Duncan and Miss Brown would haha!) Then on Friday, we will upload tasks to do at the time outlined on the schedule as if we were on the trip for real! We expect you all to be singing on the bus journey there and back (adults too) as the teachers will be joining in!

We would love to be kept updated throughout the week of all the completed activities to make the virtual zoo trip extra special! Please add photos onto your learning journals or email via the school office email! We can’t wait to see how everyone gets on.

We are very excited for this super fun week of activties leading up to our special virtual trip,

Miss Duncan and Miss Brown 🙂

P3 Learning Activities

Good morning everyone,

I hope you are all well and have had a good week?

I have set up some multiplication and division practise for you all in Sumdog. Please log in and give it a try. The videos posted by Mrs Clayton on division will remain available for anyone who needs to go back over anything they have not understood. Please look at them again or send any questions to me via the school email if you are unsure about your learning.

I hope some of you get the chance to watch the documentary last night on BBC 2 Scotland. It should be available on Iplayer if you missed it. It was really good and I enjoyed watching it. Well done again Poppie.

P3/2 – Friday 12th June

Good morning P3/2,

Happy Friday everybody.  We are at the end of another week and there are just two more weeks until the summer holidays so keep going because we are nearly there.

Below is today’s grid.  As we have been doing the last few Fridays we are focusing on spelling our tricky words and trying to be helpers in the house.  I have also given you two different problem solving sheets for maths which I hope will be a little fun.  You can choose one of them to try or have a go at both.

Friday 12th June

Have a fabulous weekend everyone.

P3 Learning Activities

Good morning everyone,

I hope you are all well and having a good week?

As mentioned yesterday, tonight is the night when one of our class will feature in a skate boarding documentary. You can watch this documentary at 8.30pm on BBC Scotland.

Today we will look at changing materials in science- the video clip suggests a sock for the experiment but you could also try using some play dough or blue tack if you have some. If you don’t have play dough in the house you can ask an adult to help you make some. Copy the link below for a really easy play dough recipe-

https://www.actionforchildren.org.uk/support-for-parents/things-to-do-with-your-child/messy-play/

the above recipe is very easy with only a few materials needed. The one below needs a a few more things but does provide links to where you can get them online if you would like to try it out.

Best Ever No-Cook Play Dough Recipe!

Have fun and I hope you enjoy today’s activities.
