Here are your new spelling words for you. I’ve also included a link below to the Caterpillar order game we have played in class. P2 if you try ordering numbers to 100 and P3 you can try ordering numbers to 1000.
I hope you all enjoy your new reading books, remember to bring them back to school on Friday.
What a busy week we have had! On a Tuesday and Thursday we have ERIC time, Everyone Reading In Class, we really enjoy this time. We have been working hard on spelling our new words. We have used the laptops, snakes and ladders games and a number line game to help us in maths. In our rainforest topic we have created a forest floor and had great success with the rainforest jigsaw! Look at our lovely fireworks picture!
On Tuesday this week we had some lovey weather for PE. In Maths we have been using our smartboard to investigate fact families, big maths beat that on our smart pals and our laptops for place value games. Our topic activities have included making a rainforest model, completing a 100 piece jigsaw, research with non-fiction books and playdough challenges. The best thing of all this week was our new listening station arrived! We enjoyed listening to a story all about the rainforest!
I hope you are all well. We are now able to begin home learning activities! P3/2 will now be able to access home earning on our blog. Each week children will bring home a reading book on Monday to be returned on Friday so it can be quarantined. The children will read a book from the same level in school. The children will have brought home a learning pack today which is theirs to keep at home; please don’t bring anything back into school.
I will post new spelling words each Monday they are split into groups, Red, Blue and Yellow. In the home learning pack there is a jotter with a coloured dot on the front to show you which group words to follow. In the pack there is a spelling challenge grid that you can select spelling activities from. Please do the same with the reading challenge grid with the home reading book. There are also letter formation examples and handwriting words. I will also post a link to a Maths game or activity each week.
These are just suggested activities for you please just do whatever suits you and your family as they work stays at home with you.
We really enjoyed our Cosmic kids Yoga adventure in the hall, we are very good at all the moves! In maths we played Basket Ball Place Value where we counted in 10’s and 100’s. We are using smart pals to practice Big Maths Beat That challenges. Our peer reading groups are working well, P3’s really enjoy reading to P2’s and asking lots of questions on the story and pictures! Enjoy the October break!
Welcome to our P3/2 blog. We have been very busy this week! Our soft starts are very popular. We had an online assembly on the topic of anti-bullying; it had some very famous people in it. In maths we are enjoying using the smartboard, laptops and smart pals for BMBT Practice. We are concentrating on place value at the moments. In the afternoons we have been enjoying investigating Charlie and the Chocolate Factory; we have listened to most of the story, enjoyed playing in the chocolate kitchen and created lollies that would have made Willie Wonka proud.
In P.E. today we started our preparations for participating in the London 2020 Mini Marathon. P1,2 and 3 started by getting some of their running distance completed, P4 and 5 did some training for their run on Thursday and P6 and 7 helped with the organisation and preparations. All pupils will have the opportunity to complete 2.6 miles.
I hope you all had a restful and enjoyable Summer break.
I am sure that you will now be aware of the communications and information from West Lothian Council regarding the phased return of all pupils back to school. Please find attached further information and guidance relevant to St. Joseph’s PS to help prepare you and your family for the safe return of all pupils next week.
Myself and all the staff are very much looking forward to welcoming all of our pupils back to school. The Health and wellbeing of all is a clear priority and I know you will do all you can do support the guidance that has been carefully compiled on the basis of a thorough Risk Assessment.
I look forward to seeing many of you next week as we begin the return to school.
