P2 LEARNING GRIDS WEEK BEGINNING 30.03.20

Good morning Primary 2! Bonjour et ca va? Week 2 of learning from home. We hope you and your families are all well and that you are all having fun whilst learning.
Il fait beau ce matin. It’s such a lovely day today. Make sure you take some time to enjoy it in the garden if you have one.
We have added this week’s Literacy and Maths Learning Grids for you to work through in your own time this week.
There’s also lots to choose from on the Blog including the websites like Topmarks, ICT and Sumdog.

Well done to everyone who has logged on to Sumdog so far (almost half of P2D has). Remember to take your time to read the question. I think some of you may be rushing them. Remember – always do your best!

Take care and if you have any questions, remember you can leave a comment for us. Take care,
Mrs Kohler and Mrs Duff

Fine Motor Cutting Skills

Another good way to keep those fingers strong and in control, is to practise cutting skills. I’ve attached a cutting skills workbook here for those that have access to a printer. No printer? No problem – instead, try cutting around pictures in an old catalogue or magazine, or draw a variety of different lines on a blank piece of paper – try staight lines, curvey lines, zig-zags or circles.

Fine Motor Pencil Control

The P.2 & P.3 boys and girls working with Mrs Black have been trying really hard with their pencil control and letter formation during group sessions. The sheets attached are a fun way of keeping those finger muscles working. Do the sheet the first time with a normal pencil, then try going over it in a few different colours to create a rainbow.

Pencil Control Workbook

No access to a printer? Open the attachment and try to copy a similar dot pattern onto a blank piece of paper, or create your own dot-to-dot pictures for your child to complete.

Playdough Fine Motor Activities

Some of the P.2 and P.3 children have been using Theraputty to strengthen their finger muscles. You can continue to do this at home using playdough (if you don’t have playdough, check out the easy recipes online for how to make your own).

Attached is the ‘Get Your Playdough Song’, and a poster showing some exercises to do with playdough. Once you’ve done the exercises, have a go at creating something fun!

Fine Motor Skills

Hello Boys and Girls!

I hope you’ve had a fun first week of home learning? This week, I’d like you to begin with some Fine Motor Skills. Fine Motor muscles are the muscles that help us make little movements with our fingers, such as writing, doing buttons and zips, painting and cutting. We’ve worked really hard on our pencil control this term, so I’d like to make sure we keep these finger muscles strong.

I can’t attach more than one link to a post, so there will be 3 seperate posts on Fine Motor Skills: Playdough, Pencil Control, and Cutting Skills. Please have a look and give them a try at home.
