Health and Wellbeing

Good Afternoon…

This week in primary 1 and primary 2/1 we have been learning about friendships and what makes a good friend.

Below are some examples of good friendship in the classroom. Discuss these with an adult at home. Can you think of anymore examples? Can you draw a picture to go along with your example?

Literacy Time…

Good morning primary 1 and primary 2/1…

We have all had lots of snow recently and I’m sure many of you have enjoyed playing outside. For writing today we are going to try and draw a detailed picture of someone building a snowman.

Ask yourself when you are drawing:

What would you see in the background?

What would your arms and legs be doing when you are building?

Remember to add lots of detail just like we have been practising in class.

Can you make up a sentence about your snowman and tell an adult.

Challenge:

Try to write a sentence about your snowman. Don’t forget your capital letter and full stop.

P1 and P2/1 Maths Activity!

Hello everyone..

This morning we are going to practise forming our number correctly.

Here is a fun activity for you to try:

First of all watch and practise writing your numbers with your ‘magic finger’ in the air.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8ii202RoEd8

Next put some gloopy food on a tray or plate and trace or copy your numbers with a finger. You can try any squishy food- such as yoghurt, custard or angel delight. Can you take a picture of your work?

If your child dislikes getting messy, then put the gloopy food in a zip-lock food bag to get the sensation without the messy feeling! Fill the bag about a quarter full, and squeeze out all the air. You will need to tape the bag down to enable the letters to be formed more easily.

What to do if you are finished daily tasks or Files isn’t working

Hi Everyone!

Can I just say I am so impressed with the enthusiasm Primary 4 have shown today. Seeing everyone at check in and snack and read was the highlight of my day!

I also want to say well done for being so patient with Teams. I know that Files wasn’t working well for everyone today and it got a little frustrating at times!

Tomorrow we will carry forward today’s tasks to allow everyone to finish them off. If you managed to get into Files and you have completed the tasks, or if you complete the tasks  before the end of your day tomorrow (or any other day) here is a document you can use to make sure that you are making the most of your learning time.

Tasks for when you are finished or teams isnt working

This will also be in the Files section on Teams.

Enjoy the rest of your afternoon,

Miss Barclay

P1 & P 2/1 Health & Wellbeing task

Good Afternoon boys and girls!

I think it is fair to say that we are all missing our friends aren’t we? This got us thinking about what makes a good friend.  For your task this afternoon you could:

  1. Watch the story “How Do Dinosaurs Stay Friends?”

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jyaXjZFKFHw

  1. Discuss with an adult the different ways how the dinosaurs were kind to their friends and if someone new came to school, what advice would you give to them about how they can make new friends? How did you feel when you first went to school? (Shy, nervous, upset that nobody would talk, fine, confident)

Does it take a long time to make a ‘good’ friend?

  1. Draw a picture of one of your good friends in your class and write their name at the top. Remember to add lots of detail to your drawing like how we have been practising in class!

P2 – Write a sentence underneath your drawing saying why they are your good friend.

  1. Send us a picture of your drawings!

We look forward to seeing all your lovely drawings of your friends!

New Years Resolutions.
Happy New Year!
It is often tradition for some people to make a New Year’s Resolution at the beginning of each year. Have a think of a Resolution you want to make this year, also come up with different acts of kindness for each month of the upcoming year. Let’s see how many of them you can keep!
Use this time as an opportunity to reflect on last year and what you are most looking forward to this year.

Please post any work into assignments.
