Free Online Green Gym Sessions With Activities to Take Outdoors

After positive feedback from the online Green Gym sessions Alice and her team from The Conservation Volunteers (TCV) will be delivering more Green Gym sessions.

There are options for primary and secondary school aged children.

From 22nd-26th Feb they will be delivering 45min-1hour long sessions. Children and young people will be asked to join the session then head outdoors and try out different activities.

Five sessions are being offered:

Monday 22nd Feb– School Green Gym- ages 7+. Introduction to school Green Gym with wellbeing focused activities. Nature is a place for learning, playing and supporting our mental health. But how much time do you spend in nature?

 

Tuesday 23rd Feb– Scottish Badgers, Tracker School. Ages 12+. Introduction to tracking common animals using field signs. Good for anyone with an interest in practical conservation, wildlife, learning about animals.

 

Wednesday 24th Feb– Hedgehogs with Kirsty (TCV). Ages 7+. Learn more about hedgehogs and what we can do to protect them. Complete a garden survey to see how hedgehog friendly your garden is.

 

Thursday 25th Feb– Scottish Wildlife Trust, Wildlife collections. Ages8+. Be inspired to connect with nature and start your own wildlife collection.

 

Friday 26th Feb– Nature Play with Carolyn (TCV), Nature Art. All Ages. Look to nature for inspiration, create art pieces using the natural materials we see all around.

 

All tickets are free and can be booked via Eventbrite.

Fabulous photos from screen break Day 3 (Wednesday)

Lovely to share more fabulous photos of the Learning taking place in school and at home, indoors and in the snow! I am so impressed with the participation in these activities, it looked like it was good to get a break from the screens!

Thursday Focus – Fairtrade Fortnight

Every year the school takes part in Fairtrade Fortnight. This year it will begin on 22nd February so today’s activities will have a Fairtrade focus.  The links to the activities are below.

There are also three home-learning grids (two Playing Fair and one Climate related) to choose from. Take a look at each and see if there is anything you would like to try.

Terrific Tuesday- Screen Break Day 2!

Good morning on this very snowy day! Here is today’s activity grid which i’ve adapted slightly to include the weather!

There are some activities you can do if you’re snug inside but otherwise, enjoy the snow! We’d love to see your snowy pictures- angels, igloos, snowmen, sledging- have fun!
