Earlier in the session Zoo Lab visited the nursery. This was a great experience for the children, who got the opportunity to handle some of the animals. The children learned some interesting facts about the animals, which  all came from the desert, and how to handle/stroke them properly.

Each child is allocated to a key group. This gives them the opportunity to form friendships and get to know a small group of children well. This can be very important for quiet and shy children in a large busy nursery. Many friendships start amongst members of the key group. Our group colours are Red Group – Mrs Cowan; Yellow Group – Mrs Patterson; Green Group – Mrs Gardner and Blue Group – Mrs Lynch/Mrs Kemp.

Group time  is a special quiet time and gives staff the opportunity to promote a range of skills such as emotional literacy, listening skills, numeracy and a range of adult led activities in line with our curriculum ‘A Curriculum for Excellence’.
