Eco Nursery

We now have our Eco Action Plan in place, which can be found on the Eco Bulletin Board in the cloakroom.  The children and staff have been making sure our nursery is as eco friendly as it can be. We are currently working towards our Silver Eco Award! There is a display in the middle area of the nursery which highlights the work being carried out by the children. Each week the children have the opportunity of being an Eco Monitor. They wear coloured bands, which they collect at the start of the session and have now been changed from sashes to armbands. This reminds them and the rest of the children of their duties.  Green bands are our water monitors and they have to make sure all the taps are turned off, whilst reminding the children using the taps to turn them off when finished washing their hands! Red bands are our paper monitors. They make sure paper towels are not getting wasted and that the blue bag is being used properly in the Dome Room. Blue band monitors collect left over snack from the groups. This is then either fed to the worms or put in the compost bin. Each time the children empty the brown bin they record this by putting a picture of either a worm or compost bin onto the chart on our display.  The children are all becoming aware of the importance of their tasks and look forward to carrying them out.  At the end of each week our Monitors receive a certificate to take home!
