Virtual Reality in P6 and P7!

Primary 6 and Primary 7 were very lucky to have a visiting specialist in this week! Mr Blaikie owns Langasm, an eSports Gaming and VR Centre in Livingston! http://www.langasm.co.uk

Mr Blaikie and his colleague, spoke to P6 and P7 about some of the challenges and rewards of starting up your own business. Mr Blaikie spoke about how he used to work in the financial industry but he was always interested in gaming and wanted to start something new.

Some lucky pupils then then got to try out the VR equipment for themselves! Unfortunately not all pupils had a go due to time constraints, however, having seen how keen the pupils were to try the equipment, Mr Blaikie has offered a 50% discount to pupils of Dedridge Primary School up until Christmas!

P6 Spooky Science Experiment

For Halloween, P6 pupils voted to carry out a spooky science experiment with Mr Price, instead of coming in wearing fancy dress. Here are some photos from the science experiment!

Ask your child what they were testing!

The pupils will be able to explain the meanings of words such as variables, dissolve and disintegrate. They will also be able to explain how to carry out a fair test and will be able to discuss how their predictions differed from the results.

Remember to comment below to make sure your child receives a raffle ticket!

Fire Officers come to Dedridge!

On Thursday, P6 had a visit from the fire officers at Livingston Fire Station.

They spoke to the class about fire safety and reminded everyone how to stay safe around fireworks.

After the class presentation, we got the chance to ask them questions about their jobs as a fire officer!  It was very interesting to hear about some of the things they do in their jobs.  They also told us the difference between the fire extinguishers and when to use them.  Ask your child to explain this to you, it’s very interesting! Don’t forget to write a comment about your discussion so your child gets a raffle ticket!

For the last part of their visit, they took the class outside for a tour of the fire engine.  They showed the pupils all the different tools and equipment they keep inside and spoke to the pupils about when they use the machinery!

Bronze Badge Winner!!

We are very proud to announce that Megan in P6 is the winner for our Bronze Award Design-a-Badge competition!

Our pupil council picked their favourite 3 designs out of all the applications, then everyone in the school voted for the one they liked best!

We hope you like the new badge! Ask your child to tell you about the Bronze Award and the steps they are taking to make sure they win a badge!
