Primary 1 Maths and cutting skills

Good afternoon boys and girls,

Today we would like you to focus on subtraction. This means you need to start with a number and you are going to take some away. Ask an adult at home to give you a question, here is one to get you started. Start with 7 and take 3 away. You need to go and collect 7 items and then take 3 of them away. How many are you left with? You should now only have 4.

Once you have practised a few of these using materials why not go onto sumdog where we have set you a challenge!

Why not try improving your fine motor skills this afternoon by practising your cutting skills. Get yourself a toilet roll tube or kitchen roll tube and give it some funky hair. Then get a pen and give it a face like below. Send us your picture once you are finished.

Have a lovely afternoon

P1 Literacy and Music Tuesday

Good Morning P1,

Hope you are all safe and well.

For Literacy this morning we are looking at the sound y. There are some words with y at the beginning but more with y at the end.

Try to think of 4 words that begin with y. Then in your jotter write two sentences with y words in. Such as,

The sun is yellow.

or

I got a yoyo.

For Music this morning we are still looking at some of the disney songs. Here are some examples,

These songs are both about sea creatures. How do you think they are feeling? Are they happy, sad, worried, excited or angry? How does the changes in the music tell you how they are feeling?

Pop back later for some more activties,

🙂

The sticks can be used as the hands. Can someone at home give you a time and can you make it on the clock. Here is an example. Email us your finished clocks.

French – Mrs Grenfell would like you to watch this video  and listen out for the words below

Over the next few weeks you could try to achieve some of the things on this French challenge sheet:

the_great_french_language_challenge

Some of the tasks are pretty tricky so don’t worry about trying to do them all.  Just have a go and you will be surprised what you learn!

To get you started, here is a French song to practise!

What do you think it is about? Discuss it with someone in your house.

Spelling – Sumdog

I have set each group a spelling challenge on sumdog to revise words you have learned in class.  Please log in to sumdog.com and have a go!  It will finish on Friday.

Have a fun afternoon.  If you are outside, please remember to stay safe in the sun by wearing a hat, using suncream and drinking lots of water!
