This afternoon we thought about the weapons that everyone had researched on Monday with Mrs Heggie and chose one to try and create themselves using the resources provided.
As you can see there was a great deal of sawing, and hot glueing going on but more importantly there was great teamwork and lots of creativity.
P7I were very fortunate to have Mrs Constadine from Whitburn Academy Science department visit them recently to explore anamorphic art.
This is the type of art that was used by followers of Bonnie Prince Charlie as a secret code to show their loyalty without visitors knowing. The use of a mirrored cup in the centre of tray would display a reflection of a picture of the Prince. If someone should have visited that you did not want to see that you believed in the Jacobite cause, then you simply removed the cup!
We have been very fortunate to have on loan from the Bennie Museum in Bathgate, so items that they have from the 1700’s.
We had a carousel set up in the class, to work our way round exploring what we thought the items were made of, used for, who would have used them and we thought of what has replaced them nowadays.
