Kensuke’s Kingdom Displays

Our classroom displays are just about complete!

There have been some terrific ideas, teamwork and creativity shown over the last few weeks as we have tried to re-create scenes from our class novel.  We have tried really hard to attach quotes to our displays to show where we have taken our ideas from.

What do you think about our displays?  Please leave a comment below to tell us.

Exploring our senses for Big Writing

Today both Primary 7 classes worked together to think about what they would see, hear and smell within our stories for Big Writing.  To help us put together some good adjectives to desribe our ideas we worked visited 3 stations to think about each of these senses.

Mrs Spence helped us think about what we could see, by discussing these  pictures with us:

Miss Mitchell let us listen to some audio clips that let us think about the sounds that we might hear.

Whilst Mrs Inglis made us close our eyes and describe the smells that we might find on a desert island.

Our Front Cover for Kensuke’s Kingdom

This was our interpretation of the front cover of our class novel Kensuke’s Kingdom by Michael Morpurgo.

Connor and Callum drew a picture of the boat called the ‘Peggy Sue’ and then Taylor and Jade painted and outlined it.

Cameron and Leona cut out a yellow circle from crepe paper for the sun and ripped some white tissue paper for the clouds.

Skye, Mya and Rebecca painted the letters black and carefully cut around them.

Graeme, Sean, Lewis, Billy, Nadine and Mrs Inglis added the different colours and textures of paper to show the sea and the waves.

Please leave us a comment to tell us what you think of our display!

Be sure to come back next week to see the yacht that we will be making.

What is our new book about?

It was all very secretive today as we were handed brown evelopes with clues as to what our class novel was about.

After learning all about inferences this morning, we were able to look beyond the picture clues and use our imaginations to write down what we thought that the book was going to be about.

Ethan “I think that it will be about an island in Hawaii.”

Graeme “They might use the compass for travelling.”

Nadine “The main character will be a boy because it says ‘he’.”
