Playground Games

Playground Games

Today we were very lucky to have 4 girls from P5A come and teach us playground games. Mara, Finn, Emma and Lucya were fabulous teachers and P2F really enjoyed learning and playing the games.

Here are the girls explaing to us ‘the ‘Learning Intentions’ and the ‘Success Criteria’

This game is called ‘Turn to Stone’ Some of us had to be Wizards and Elves….it was fun!

This one was called ‘Giant Steps’

Kenzie was the king in this game. It was called ‘King in the Castle’

The girls asked the children for feedback:

What was their favourite game?

Will they play them at playtime?

Was it fun?

I think you can see from our photos that it was fun and we enjoyed it very much. Well Done to the Primary 5 girls  for being so confident and responsible 🙂

Snow Fun

Well spring is in the air….or so they say. However, P2F were very pleased to be playing in the March snow today. We are learning all about measurement in Maths so we decided to go out into the garden to see who could make the tallest and smallest snowman. A big thank you to all the parents for sending their children to school appropriately dressed for this weather.   The children said ‘maths was great today’.    🙂

Have a look at our fabulous snowmen.

Well Done P2F 🙂

Chef School at the Toby Carvery

P2F enjoyed an amazing experience when they had the opportunity to be a part of the ‘Chef School’ in the Toby Carvery in Bathgate.

As the bus arrived we could see Chef Jim waiting for us.

We all had to make a chef hat…it was fun!

I’m a Celebrity

We played a game where we had to put our hands into  4 boxes and guess the fruits or vegetables we could feel..

The Fruit Salad Challenge

Chef Jim set himself a personal challenge to see if he could make a fresh fruit sald in under 5 minutes.

He made it in 4 minutes 25 seconds

Lunch

All of the chefs at the Toby carvery worked hard to make us a very healthy lunch. It was yummy!

Then we got to eat the amazing 4 minute fruit salad.

Time to say thank you and return to school

We had a fabulous day and wish to thank Miss MacEwan and her friend Chef Nicole for organising it. We also like to say a big thank you to Chef Jim and Linns for being fantastic hosts. We all learned lots about healthy eating and promised we would try our best to eat lots of fruit and vegetables. 🙂

January 2013

It is great to have all the children back at school safe and well after the Christmas Holidays. I have been hearing all about the fabulous Christmas presents the children received and I think Santa has been very generous this year. I hope you all had a relaxing, fun time with family and friends.

I had a wonderful holiday, but it is good to get back to work and into a routine. During this term, we will be continuing with our topic ‘Sun, Moon and Stars’. Over the next few weeks we will be learning all about the different phases of the moon as well as lots of very interesting facts about them.

Continue to look in our topic page to see what we are learning!

Scottish Book Day

Tomorrow is Scottish Book Day. Please encourage your child to bring a book to school with them, preferably a Scottish themed book or one written by a Scottish Author. The children can also dress up as a character from a Scottish book.

Still bring your favourite book to school, even if it is not Scottish themed because the whole school will be reading from 11am until 11.20am.

P5A and P5C came to read to us today. They were fabulous. They even made their own board games to compliment the stories they read to us. We really enjoyed it. Thank you to Miss Ashenhurst, Miss Cooper and all the P5 pupils. 🙂

Money Week

We had lots of fun during ‘Money week’ as well as learning through active activities. Our class enjoyed the Whitdale Market the best. We had to think about how much money we had and then work out what we could afford (budgeting).

Lewis really enjoyed ‘splatting’ the Primary 7’s

Euan and Robert won these huge balloons at the bowling stall.

Murron and Erin showing their approval with a ‘thumbs up’

I wonder what Anthony, Murron and Freya are buying at this stall???

Meet The Teacher

On Friday 28th September parents and carers will have the opportunity to visit your child’s classroom and have a look at all the things we have been learning about since August.  You can take the time to admire our displays and to try some of our different activities.  Your child will give you a tour of the classroom and show you how these activities help us learn.  Meet the Teacher will run from 11:30am until 12:25pm..
