Autumn Walks
Today we went on our Autumn walks around the local park to see what changes have been happening in our local environment and community. We had the added bonus of snow this morning to add to our discussions of the changeable weather we get in Scotland! On our walks we used our senses to explore the changes around us and we even had a couple of little autumnal friends on hand with some autumn related challenges and activities. To see how the Autumn walks link into our new consultative planning approach check out our Sway (see the post below).
Here are jut a few photos from our walks today…
Our learning…
Check out the Sway below to see how we are developing our planning and learning within the nursery using our new consultative planning approach. We will be continually adding to and updating the Sway so please keep checking to see how our learning is progressing. As always we love to hear what you think, so please feel free to leave a comment on our Blog.
Spooky happenings!
Welcome back after the October break. On our return some spooky things have been happening around the nursery in preparation for our Halloween Parties on Monday. Our spooky spiders have been helping us with our counting, we had to count out 1 body, 2 eyes and 8 legs. We have been colour mixing when we made our pumpkin iced biscuits, we discovered red and yellow mixed together will make orange. Some of our morning children then helped carve our pumpkins, we noticed the the seeds from the pumpkin felt all slimy!
We will see you all on Monday dressed in your costumes (no masks please!) and ready to party!
Our planning at Bathgate West is changing, to see how our new child led and consultative planning is developing you can check out our Sway below, which illustrates our recent and ongoing learning journey here at Bathgate West.
Remember to click on the photographs to flick through the stack of pictures and also click on the icons in the corner to read the photograph captions. As always we love to hear your thoughts and feedback so please leave a comment and tell us what you think.
Our floor book is always out on the nursery floor, so please feel free to take a look anytime you like and the Sway will continue to be updated as our learning journey progresses to keep checking the link.
Limelight music
Some of the children have been taking part in a music programme which is being run by Limelight music, exploring music, stories and songs. Fletcher, Gordon and Joseph were back again today with lots of fun, music and a story about a boy called Harris Dunn who quickly learned to listen to his parents!
Here are some photos of the children enjoying the musical experience, developing their confidence and communicating and expressing their ideas, thoughts and feelings through musical activities.
Grandparent’s Day 2016
What a wonderful day at Bathgate West we had today when some of our Grandparents came to join us in our celebration of Grandparent’s Day! Lots of Grans and Grandads came in to see our nursery, find out what we like to play and what we learn about at nursery. We had a few treats and surprises for them along the way… with cakes and biscuits, a video of special messages for them and then a few songs and dances, which they joined in too!
We hope all the grandparents and grandchildren enjoyed the opportunity to share their nursery experience together and it was a pleasure to put faces to some the Grannies and Grandads we hear so much about. So thank you for all of the delicious home baking that was donated, thank you for all those who managed to make it along and a thank you to the staff who work so hard to make days like today such a success.
Rag Bag Collection
Please remember to hand in any Rag Bag collections for recycling. Our Rag Bag collection will be on Monday 10th October and we receive money in exchange for the donations, so if you have any old clothes, curtains, bed covers or fabrics please bag them up and bring the into us before the 10th. There are spare bags at the front door if you would like extra, please help yourself.
Thanks.
