Busy Wee Chefs

Following on from children’s interest in preparing snack and discussions from books, we made blueberry muffins for snack this morning!

The children took part in lots of discussion about what was healthy and what foods we should eat to stay healthy. Our wee people showed confidence in recognising numbers and explored a variety of mathematical language as they measured their ingredients, learning some new language along the way!

As children were asked to ‘fold in the blueberries FO “what’s folding?” TC “I know it’s like this (demonstrates folding blueberries into mixture) folding makes it all go together”.

FO “are these healthy cos sugar is not healthy?”

When the muffins came out of the oven most children ate them.
SW saying “I don’t like blueberries but I like them now”

The children listened well within shared discussion following through a series of instructions to complete the process

We agreed they tasted good but we couldn’t eat them every day because they had sugar in them.

What a lovely treat, well done!!

Junk Modelling

We have added a larger area for our junk modelling in the messy room for children to explore their curiosity and creativity.

Some children began to construct a robot.

There was lots of discussion about using different parts and how they would keep them all together.

AW “I need to cut out a foot”.

TC “add some sellotape”.

CB “There you go there’s the buttons”.

The boys decided to call him “Wallie”.

If you have any spare junk we would greatly appreciate it for our junk area, large boxes, tubing and any other materials you can provide we would be very grateful.

Good teamwork boys, Wallie the robot is looking super!

Learners Journals

Our children have been exploring their Learners Journals, have you?

They have the opportunity to access it within nursery and enjoy scrolling to see what their key worker has been writing.  The children loved seeing some of their parents comments as well.

Why not leave a little comment or like your child/children’s observations and they will get to view this in nursery!

If you cannot access your child/children’s learners journal please speak to Miss Reid or Miss Robertson.

Thank you for your continued support, we can’t wait too see all your lovely comments.

Mini Builders

The children were observing the workmen who were working on the roof of the house behind nursery and building an extension.

Ellie and Aria then began building in the stones making a house of stones, bricks and wood. This captured the interest of a wider group of children who then joined in and began to build pretending to hammer using the plastic bricks.
Miss Wilkins then introduced a large piece of wood, hammers and small nails to allow the children to safely practice using the tools on the workbench.
We had lots of lovely discussions about what we could build-aeroplanes, cars, different materials and types of houses etc.

If any of our parents have loose parts such as bricks and rubble, nuts and bolts, cable reels etc you can donate to our nursery to develop our nursery experiences we would greatly appreciate it.

Thank you
