Icy fun

The change in temperature has provided a focal point of discussion out in the nursery garden… we couldn’t miss all of the twinkling frost on the playground and the children have been spotting patches of ice hidden inside tyres, under pallets and inside buckets this week.

Archie wanted to break up the ice puddle he had found and said it would crack up. Finley has wanted to freeze water by leaving outside over night he said that water turns to ice at night. Our fire pit was filled with ice and we spotted wood trapped inside.. the children asked to melt the ice to get the wood out. Suggestions were that we put it in the sun, use hot water and some children wanted to crush it with their feet.

It sure has been a cold week, so wrap up warm so we can continue our learning outdoors as much as possible…

Children in Need

The children have being having fun and raising money for Children in Need today. We dressed spotty, made spotty biscuits, took part in Pudsey crafts and danced to our Teddy Bear song. A big thank you to everyone who donated money for a very good cause…we will keep you posted on our total!

Autumn Walks

Today we went on our Autumn walks around the local park to see what changes have been happening in our local environment and community. We had the added bonus of snow this morning to add to our discussions of the changeable weather we get in Scotland! On our walks we used our senses to explore the changes around us and we even had a couple of little autumnal friends on hand with some autumn related challenges and activities. To see how the Autumn walks link into our new consultative planning approach check out our Sway (see the post below).

Here are jut a few photos from our walks today…
