P7 Friday 17th April

Primary Seven have mixed emotions as we begin our final term at Meldrum. However, we have lots of exciting activities and events ahead.

P7 have been learning how to debate. We split into teams to debate “Should pupils have one less day at school?”.

We played rounders outside for P.E. on Tuesday with Mrs Harris. We worked in teams of four to practise batting, throwing and fielding.

In Numeracy we did our rich task, where we answered if a given 3 digit number was even, odd, a prime number, a square number and then listed its factors. Primary 7 were also doing Daily 10 to practice their tables.

In Art Primary 7 were learning about Earth Day which is on the 22nd of April. On that day, we address environmental issues and wars going on around the world affecting oil supplies. Then primary 7 made a pop-up card to celebrate this day.

Great Green (Things that went well)

  • Improvements in the recall and accuracy of times tables.

Think Pink (Things we want to get better at)

  • More practise at responding to others when debating.

This week our Lead Learners are Adam and Karah for demonstrating Responsibility across learning.  Well done!

They have decided that next week they will be looking for respect in our dealings with others.

(Thank you, James, for writing this Blog)

We have loved exploring the Ancient Egyptians and look forward to our new topic in this last term.

Meldrum Messages – Friday 17th April

We were delighted to welcome everyone back on Tuesday after the Easter break, refreshed and ready to take on the challenges of the final term of this school year.  P1 and P2 had a great time at Mill Farm on their class excursion this week where they explored the farm.  Everyone showed our school values and were a credit to the school.  Our P3 performed their class assembly for parents this morning and performed brilliantly, showing off their talents in singing and dancing as well as sharing lots of information about their recent topic of the Egyptians.  Last night, we hosted a parent meeting for P7 with staff from Deans Community High School where more information about starting high school was shared.  Thank you to those who attended.

A reminder that each class shares a weekly post about the learning that has taken place in individual classrooms on our school blog so please take time to have a read and find out what your child has been up to in school!

Next week

Tuesday – P7 enhanced transition group to DCHS in the afternoon

Wednesday – Parent Council meeting to be held on Teams at 6.30pm- link to follow

Thursday – P7 to The Risk Factory; P6 and P7 group to netball competition after school

Meldrum Messages – Friday 27th March 2026

We’ve had a jam packed last week of term!  Our P3 pupils started to practise for their class assembly and are enjoying songs linked to their Egyptians topic.  P1 took part in some egg hunts and had to sound out the words that they found inside the egg.  P2 were super excited during outdoor learning on Thursday as they thought that they had discovered the Easter bunny had been in the playground!

We held a meeting for parents of P7 pupils going on the residential to Dalguise in April and shared key and important safety messages.  Anyone who couldn’t attend is welcome to contact me individually to discuss any information in the packs sent home.

Thank you to everyone who came along to the Parent Council Easter bingo in the school last night.  It was a lovely, fun event which everyone enjoyed.  Thanks to the Parent Council for putting this event on and their continued efforts in fundraising for the school.

We had our Easter assembly today which was led by Nelu, our school chaplain.  We then heard about some of our wider achievements outside of school at the end of term Achievement Assembly.  At the end of the assembly, we celebrated our lovely Miss Burke who is going to be married during the Easter break.  We wish her and her husband to be lots of love, happiness and good wishes for a lovely wedding day and their future together.  We know that we are going to forget to call her by her married name for the first few weeks but look forward to welcoming her back as Mrs Nagle.

A reminder that we resume after the break on Tuesday 14th April.  I hope that everyone has a lovely time at Easter and that we are lucky to see some sunny spring weather over the holiday.  The staff team and I would like to thank parents/carers for your continued support and look forward to welcoming the children back after the break.

Week beginning 13th April

Monday – school closed – Easter break

Thursday – P1 and P2 trip to Mill Farm; Meeting for P7 parents for pupils going to Deans Community High School – Meldrum PS @4pm

Friday – P3 class assembly

Friday 27th March

This week Primary 7 had their final numeracy transition with Mr McConville. In this session we were learning about proportions.

On Monday, Miss Thompson from DCHS came to our class to answer all our questions about high school.

In Art, we had to do a painting that represented calm. For this we used light pastel colours.

The big excitement this week was finally getting all the information about Dalguise. We are really looking forward to going for two nights at the end of April.

For outdoor learning we had lots of fun creating an Easter egg hunt for our Buddies in P1. We hid easter eggs all around the playground with questions in them.  We then helped the buddies to find them and answer the questions but they did really well by themselves.

Great Green (Things that went well)

  • Creating Easter animations with sound on adobe express

Think Pink (Things we want to get better at)

  • Using ink pens when writing best copies of our writing

This week our Lead Learners are Charlie and Alfie for always demonstrating Honesty.  Well done!

They have decided that next week they will be looking for Responsibility across learning.

P6 – Friday 27th March 2026

Happy Easter break!!

Great Green

  • On Tuesday we took part in cooking with some Spanish ingredients.
  • Mrs Harris held a dodgeball tournament for us in P.E.
  • We finished our Lapbooks in topic and presented them in class to each other. Afterwards, we spent some time looking at each other’s and scanning the QR codes we generated using Adobe Express.

Think Pink

  • Not being tempted to swing in our seats against the wall!
  • After some Easter multiplication tasks, we noticed we need to keep practicing double digits multiplication and our strategies for this.

Lead Learner Update

When we come back from the holidays, our Lead Learners will be Jack and Alfie. Well done boys! They were chosen for their responsibility in class and trying hard in all tasks this week 😊.

Great Green – ‘What went well’

– We extended our I.T. skills when we had a visitor showing us Adobe Express. We made posters while practising these skills.
-In writing, P5 came up with excellent reasons for having an extra P.E. slot using powerful persuasive vocabulary.

Think Pink – ‘Even better if’

– continue to practise our algorithms in Numeracy.

Lead Learners.

Our lead learners last week did a great job. Thank you – Amelia-Rose and Lily.

This week our Lead Learners are Finlay and Aarjav

Their tasks will be to

P4 Friday 27th March.

P4 hope you all have an amazing Easter holiday!

Great Green (things that are going well)

We have been exploring Adobe Express and created some fabulous posters.

Outdoor learning was fun; we had lots of resources in the playground that we shared with P5 and had a great time.

Think Pink (things that were a bit tricky)

Some of us found our writing activity on the computer a little bit tricky this week. We’ll work some more on this after the holidays.

This week’s Lead Learners are Glad and Tierney who have displayed all the school values. Well done!
