Great Green:
-Our trip to Mill Farm was the best part of our week. The children enjoyed seeing all the animals on the farm and we were lucky to meet a baby goat (kid) who had been born the same day! We saw sheep, cows, goats, chickens, alpacas, rabbits, guinea pigs, mice, peacocks and a tortoise called Bella who is 35 years old! The children loved the baby animals, highland coos, playing on the trampolines and the zipline. We also learned there is a river in Livingston called the River Almond.
-Following our trip we had a class discussion on nocturnal animals and did some sorting. We managed to correctly identify nocturnal and diurnal animals and sort them into different categories. We learned that nocturnal animals rely on their senses to help them in the dark.
Think Pink:
-We have been word building using magic / silent “e” this week. The class have been learning how the magic “e” is silent but still has a job to do! It changes the vowel sound in the word from the short vowel sound “a like ah” to “A like ay” e.g. cap –> cape. We will continue to work on this over the next 2 weeks.
-We have enjoyed playing some games using directional language (N / E / S / W) and complete a treasure hunt using a map and listening to given directions. Some children have been introduced to intercardinal directions which sit between the main compass points (NE / NW / SW / SE).
Lead Learners:
Our lead learners are Esme & Charlie this week for always displaying the school values. They are kind and respectful to everyone including their peers and members of staff.
